Shutting Down Web Site
Moderator: Shoshanah Marohn
The site has gone.
However, if you search for "rebel steel" with Google, you will see the link to the site. Do not go to the site, just choose "cache" and a cached version will be available. Worked for me. Good luck.

Still available in "Google Heaven" (see Peter's post above) as of 4am PDT. Thanks tremendously, Peter! I have my copy! And of course, many many thanks to Graham, Ricky and Jeff for spending the time and effort to put it together!<FONT SIZE=1 COLOR="#8e236b"><p align=CENTER>[This message was edited by David Nichols on 19 April 2003 at 04:19 AM.]</p></FONT>

One method is to download a program such as :
Web Stripper. (free download for non commercial use) http://webstripper.net/download.html
Then try the Google search (as stated above) and select the cached URL:
Paste the URL like this one into the program: http://www.google.ca/search?q=cache:-LnLjcXfp-8C:users.interlinks.net/rebel/steel/steel.html+Steel+Guitar+Rebel&hl=en&ie=UTF-8
Select download all files from the options.
You can then burn it to a CD /DVD etc...

I tried WebStripper and got a DNS error: 'could not find site'. As far as I know, I entered the right URL into a 'new site' and went through the wizard all the way to the 'Strip Now' command. It created a download directory on the hard drive, but no data.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
What a shame to be losing this site, especially so quicky...

I'm surprised (and disappointed) at how fast this went away. This has been a valued resource for a lot of folks. A ton of work went into all of this - both in terms of tabbing, etc., and also I'm sure in terms of managing the site. I appreciate everyone's work on this, but it sure is too bad that no way was found to keep the site running under someone else's guidance, or to at least archive the data for continued use by interested folks.

Would like some feedback on how this page works. Have transposed all the music clips to mp3 format. Will be a major undertaking to change all the pages over if it works.
Bob:
Would really appreciate it if you not put the site online. That is my right to do, if and when. Thank you.
Speaking of if and when, I hope some of you fellas who are good at tabbing will jump in and give us a hand with some of it. Ricky and Jeff can't handle it all and everything else they have to do.
Joe and Fred:
Appreciate all the submissions you have made to date. Thank you.

I check the files that were downloaded from the cache. The tab is ok but none of the audio files work. They are only part of the streamed audio required. While Graham is working things out you can get the tab here in a zipped file:

*** Don't forget to update your antivirus data files first and check the file you download before you open it. (just a good practice)

Hi Graham, sorry to hear you're shutting down the website, it was certainly one of a kind and a valuable resourc4e for all steel players, duffers and professionals alike. I do understand that it taikes a lot of time and effort to keep up a site like that. I was glad I got a chance to meet you in person last year, and I know the next time I see you, you'll be making that Fulawka talk.
All the best, take care.
Keith
