I remember back in 1964when the song
"Together again" by Buck Owens hit the
charts.Thats when I fell in love with the sound of the steel guitar.Tom Brumley"s
crying, mournfull steel playing just reached inside me and grabed my soul and shook it up!
Still does! How about you? Also, can anyone tell me anything about Gene Feilds? Recordings and such? All I really know is I
like his steel"s!
Many thanks

"TOGETHER AGAIN" was the B-side of "MY HEART SKIPS A BEAT" but, both sides went #1. First "MY HEART..." #1 with "TOGETHER...." at #2. Then the two songs switched positions and the next week they switched again. The single "Capitol 5136" was released Feb.24, 1964.
[This message was edited by KEVIN OWENS on 11 March 2003 at 12:10 PM.]

And don´t forget you can play "Together Again" with just A&B pedals and NO knee levers! One of my favorite steel rides. Sounds easy, but actually it´s hard to get the phrasing right. Tom is among my "Top 5" steel players for sure. All those Buck Owens records with him are a wealth of totally great steel playing.

Completely OT I suppose, but one of the most memorable, and deadly simple solos on any of BOs songs was the guitar on Welfare line.
That "Bakersfield" AB up and down, turned around a couple times as many ways as you can is one that's fed me many many times.
People that don't like loud blasting music wouldn't have liked Bucks Live shows. I wish I'd seen more of them.
