Jerry Byrd bio

Post by Ed Webster »

Sometime last year I heard about Jerry Byrd writing his biography. Not hearing anymore about it, I wrote and asked
him when it would be out? He replied: '"The Book"- I'm sorry I ever let myself get talked into that project." He
said to contact Centerstream Publishing, which I did and they replied they didn't know when it would be out. Since
Jerry will turn 83 shortly, it would be nice if the book could come out during his lifetime so he could enjoy some
success from his efforts. The publishers email is: Centerstrm@aol.com and the person there to contact is:
Ron Middlebrook. Perhaps if enough folks write asking about it, they will get it done and published sooner. Thanx for your help.

I share your interest in JB's bio. It's been a long time in coming and I'm not a patient person. I've heard a number of different release dates during months past but still nothing definite. Maybe a letter from some of the other members could motivate the publisher?

Ed, I got a e-mail from Ron Middlebrook
at Centerstream publishing. He said he has had many requests for the Byrd bio. Said to
check back with him in about 30 days and he
would have more info for us. I wonder what they are waiting for. Lets keep up the pressure. Dave

I'm curious if Jerry had/has an publishing agent to help push it thru the muck. Knowing JB, he probably wouldn't bother, especially at the 15%+ usually demanded for such a service.

It is getting very close people. I have been in contact with Ron the past week. He has informed me that Jerry has been sent a proof copy for his approval and I have sent Ron the latest Discography of Jerry's. They were having some trouble with the first one sent some time ago, I was happy that the lastest one would be a part of the book as the first one had some errors and several addition items were added to the latest one. It is getting closer, I believe it will be available before very long 30-60 days.

Ron Middlebrook is dedicated to steel guitar and to bringing out Jerry's book. Publishing a book is a big undertaking with lots of behind the scenes editing and production headaches that are not obvious to the buying public - and that goes for EACH book out of many that a publisher may have on their plate at any given time. So don't be too quick to judge a small publishing firm that has consistenly shown an interest in our instrument. Centerstream will be publishing my upcoming book on Lap Steel so I have some insight into the process.
