A few weeks ago I asked (in the music section) about the tune "Stop The World And Let Me Off". Guess what, I just discovered a killer version of it on a CD by James Intveld, "Somewhere Down The Road", issued in 2002. I ran across it just by chance. Marty Rifkin plays some unbelievable slightly distorted "retro" steel on it. Sounds like Mooney on speed. Just the kind of steel playing that I love. The other tunes are very enjoyable also, not all have steel, but good driving timeless country-rock with lots of variety. I´ll add James to the list of my favorite artists and Marty to my favorite steel players. Does anyone know where else he played on and what kind of guitar and rig he uses?

Regards, Joe H.

Marty plays pedals and stand-up Stringmaster and, as you've noticed, he can play.

I played in Jimmy's band for 2 years. He's a great bandleader. He let me play whatever I want, but I liked Marty's solo enough on that song to learn and play it HIS way.
Marty also played on Springsteen's 'Tom Joad' record, and he's done stuff with Jewel, Tom Petty, and many, many others.
