| I heard on the news today he died in his sleep. I heard from a good friend that Johnny used to play steel and was pretty fair. I think he played a Sho-Bud. Does anybody here have any recordings of him playing or maybe a good story on him? |

| Too bad that Johnny (Donny Lytle) passed away. He was a true "Country" singer.For those that don't know it he recorded his first song as "Donny Young"He was a good steel player and I think he may have played on some of his recordings. He was born in Greenfield Ohio about 35 miles from my shop. Some time back I bought his old "Fingertip Sho-Bud". It will remain in my "Applachian Country Music Museum".Although he had lots of problems in his life, he was what "Country Music" was all about.Ed Naylor Steel Guitar Works. |

| In 1958, Donny called me & said his Sho-Bud hadn't arrived for a gig with him & George Jones at the Infamous Flame Cafe in Mpls & asked to borrow my Sho-Bud [the real documented #3] I let him use it & brought it each nite for him to play, He will be sadly missed, Al Udeen |

| I used to play "I'm The Only Hell My Mama Ever Raised" with a band back in the late 70's - early 80's. It was such a rousing song. I gotta tell you, we've all heard it before, and some people don't agree I know, but they don't make songs like that anymore. The lyrics, infectious melody, simple but effective orchestration, and of course JP's performance. I know in a lot of ways we need to change with the times or be left behind, but songs like that are so classic. They just don't do it like that anymore.
