What a surprise!! I just received and email from an old friend of mine from the old SoCal days by the name of James O'Rafferty. If you haven't heard him, in my opion he was one of the heavyweights of the west coast. He's not playing much these days but hopefully that'll pick up. I hadn't heard from him in about 17 years so this was a real shock but a good one. This guy really helped me out of a lot of steel roadblocks when I was trying to get going on this instrument. I remember one time he came to a club I was working and I had a S-12 ShoBud with a semi-universal tuning on it. He got up with us and played the fire out of that thing just like it was his own guitar and tuning. We did some sessions together in his studio with me on lead guitar. On my steel, I still use the padded cover that his wife made for me in the early eighties. I'm going to try to get him to start coming up on the Forum with us. As the old saying goes "He's a good 'un"....JH

| Jim played around here in Paducah KY a year or so ago. I was just told by one of the guys here that Jim just had several bypass's and is recovering presently. He is a great player and singer. |

Hey Boomer,
I know what you mean! What was cool about J.G. was that it seems like no matter what band he was in he'd be a better singer than the band leader and that ain't usually the case, especially with him being the steel player! I used to love to hear him do that Beatle tune "With Love From Me to You". Have a good 'un, JH
