I am for the first time ever listening to a few trax of Al Brisco, what a beautiful Steel player he is. So clean and full of feeling, Brilliant backings, what more can you say. More, more, more please AL.

| If memory serves me correctly (which it does sometimes, and doesn't more often) I seem to remember him telling me he was working on a new album. Hopefully he'll see this and correct me if I'm wrong, but I do hope he's working on something cause he's a wonderful player. |

Al Brisco,
Is indeed one of the greatest. Clean as a whistle. And very clear on EACH note he picks. Particular the higher notes.
His playing wizardy is exceeding ONLY by his demeanor. Truly a gentleman's gentleman.

Al's CD "pickin' up the dust" is a great one to have for any steel collection. He also has the whole CD tabbed out and with a rythm track tape. Great stuff.
If you haven't got the Northern Steel CD then your collection is not complete. Several Canadian steel players do an absolutely awesome variation of songs, including Al doing "All my loving" and Steve Smith doing a killer version of "Desperado" and so many others doing so much more. It is one of my favorite CD's!
AL is a great asset to us Canadian Steelers.

Al was working on adaptations of traditional fiddle tunes and planned to produce a CD of them. He played a few at the last 2 Mid-Canada Conventions and they were excellent, as you would expect. I don't know how he's coming with that plan, I know he's been very busy as of late.
AND, today is Al's birthday!

| I have to agree. Al is certainly a gentleman and a super picker. I had the pleasure of backing him on Bass for his show in Waltham. | Al was one of my teachers in the early days, and a fine teacher he was. Before I knew Al, I listened to him on a weekly live radio broadcast called Opry North, and marvelled at his abilities. We are all real proud of Al up here. I didn't know, though, that he shared a birthday with my daughter. Happy Birthday Al! |

Al's CD is one of the most listenable out
there. His playing is almost "automatic"!
Effortless with great tone, speed and technique. Great musician!!

| I've been trying to duplicate his back up slides he does on single strings. I just can't seem to get the great mellow tone and blend he gets. Hope I get to visit with him here in the Texas Jam in March. Maybe he' give me his secret touch. Happy Birthday, Al. |

Hi Guys & Gal(s),
Thanks for all the kind words. Now I just need to put a plan in place & get some recording done.
With my first CD, "Pickin' Up The Dust", I wanted to 'come out of the shoot' with a quality product.
You know what they say..."You only have one chance to make a good first impression!"
Now the challenge is to come up with as good a product, having had 30 years of playing under my belt before 'the Dust' CD.
Now to get down to business!

Dave if you are over in the Toronto area try and visit AL.He operates from his house and has a small showroom and workshop.He is a real nice guy to speak to , and always willing to answer any questions.I was over about two years back and went down to the Canadian Steelies July picnic held at the back of Al's house.I was made most welcome by Al, Joey Ace, Rebel and Bob Trailfer, and had a great time, and got to see Al play live.You are right he is a superb player.
I am trying to get back soon and hope to get to see all the guys again. |
