I really wanted to state my vocation as "gigolo"; but I figured that no one would believe me.

I also wanted to state that I am the best steel guitar player in California; but I figured that no one would believe that either.

Here is something that you can believe:
For me, Hawaiian music is the most rewarding music that I play;___no not from a financial standpoint.

Eat, sleep and my inventory of fine wine, cognac and other distilled spirits are in ample supply. Oh yes, I do contribute to the WSSC. Aside from that, my title at work translates to, official bean counter. Responsibilities include but not limited to posting and dispersing millions of dollars, budgeting, forecasting, shuffling papers and pushing pencils. I'm also a multilinguist. Most employees in the hospitality industry in my area speak with a forked tongue.

I work in retail music, as a amp tech and in sales for a company called JK Lutherie. If you are a reader of "Vintage Guitar" you've seen our ads. I'm also a free lance musician playing steel,guitar,and bass with different bands around Cincinnati,Ohio. The thing I'm most proud of is the band I play steel and guitar for,The New Radio Cowboys. We play Classic Country and Western Swing.

I'm a clay mineralogist/surface chemist by training and have spent the last 20+ years working in academia, government, and industry. Spent a long time doing basic research in the geological/environmental sciences as well as several years mapping soils for the gov't. Also did a long stint as Chief Process Mineralogist for one of the largest gold companies in the world. I now train folks in the use of various analytical instrumentation that is used in the geolgical, chemical, and material sciences.

A hobbyist steel guitarist, I now spend much of my free time practising my ocean kayaking skills (unfortunately, at the expense of my steel chops).

I now have a little over twenty-five years as a law enforcement officer in the Dayton, Ohio area. I am currently the Chief Deputy at the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office. http://www.co.montgomery.oh.us/Sheriff/staff.html I'm looking forward to retiring in a couple of years so I can spend more time on the steel.

Worked for a professional photo lab 14 years, York Photo. I worked in a pitch black dark room with 5 women and two other fellows, Thats probley what caused me to have a heart attack and retire.

I studied classical guitar at academy of music. Then I was teaching guitar for about 15 years. Since ‘86 I have worked full time repairing musical instruments. (No electronics) Have extended my knowledge of the trade during several stays in Italy.

Altho' this topic was done about one year ago, it is nice to meet and learn of new members and what they do. Great post.
Was/am a wanna-be steel guitarist since age 7 and Hawaii Calls w/Webley Edwards....and Billy Robinson, Grady Martin and Red Foley on the Grand Ole Opry.
I've done many things, none really well. I was too short to have the flying career in which I invested heavily to achieve. Years of graphic arts/photography, etc. Since 1961 I've survived being a legal investigator serving attorneys here in the Pacific Northwest.
I've retired twice during the last two years but I enjoy having people look up to me so I'm back driving a REALLY BIG TRUCK.
I've managed to acquire a great collection of Jerry Byrd stuff, and variety of really fine guitars and that's about it.
The FORUM has become one of the most important factors in my life. Fine people, extensive knowledge, and experience on which to draw.

I retired from the phone co after 32 years as a customer service tech.Have been working State Park Maintenance part time.Enjoy this much much more than the phone co.

I'm one of two QA Supervisors for the books division of LeapFrog. We make all those green electronic toys your children or grandchildren are playing with. I supervise the testers who make sure the books and cartridges that are used with the LeapPad toys work properly.
Before this I worked for ten years doing QA at Macromedia, testing Flash, Dreamweaver, Director, Action! and other projects.

Played jazz and Top 40 professionally during college (73-77), earned 2 graduate degrees, pastored Baptist churches for 20 years, invested in a music retail store, became a Presbyterian minister. I'm now bi-vocational- two small churches and two music stores here in eastern NC. I'm also playing with two great little part-time bands. I don't have time to do all this, but I'm having too much fun to stop!
