I thought Mike was playing an Emmons. I could be wrong though. I only saw a couple of glimpses as I left the room quite a bit when Hank Jr. was on. Don't really care for him at all.

| When did mike daley start working for Hank Jr? He has been working for Geo Strait for several years. I see him at San Marcos occasionally and have not heard of any changes. regards, fred |

| Different Mike Daley. Mike is a friend of mine and I go to see him play whenever I'm in Nashville. I just saw him three weeks ago. He was playing his 1973 green big bodied Pro-II Sho-Bud with Hank last night. Same as mine. Its dark green and is a real great sounding guitar. He also plays a black Legrande. Besides playing with Hank Jr. Mike is very active with the Nashville songwriter community. He was the staff steel player for Billy Block's Western Beat at the Exit Inn. He also plays for Pat Green. He played for Allison Moorer on Austin City Limits. He is a very tasteful player who doesn't limit himself to just traditional music. He usually has a pedal board with him with every kind of pedal imaginable. He is one of the players I find who can use effects sparingly but very creatively. I've seen him play in font of ten thousand people with Hank Jr., and then play in front of fifteen people at some small club for a songwriter's get together. He also was the steel player for the Gibson/Miller band. Mike Dailey is the steeler for George Strait. Mike Daley, however plays for Bocephus. By the way, what ever happened to Cowboy Eddie Long? And didn't Mike also play with Pirates Of The Mississippi?

Whether you like HW Jr or not, the steel was featured. And Mike Daley was terrific.
Let's face it HW is a big draw and he likes to entertain. Fortunately he attracts good talent... and lets them play out front!!

I wish I could be half as unsuccesfull as you. As for Mike Daily, I've never met him but have heard he's a nice fellow and I have nothing bad to say about him.
As far as you are concerned I've heard you play let me hear Mr. Hatton play along side you and see what happens, my money what little there may be is on you.
Oh BTW I love what you did on Danny Liegh's album.

Seriously, didn't we meet at Possum Holler back in 79?
For all you forum folks out there who don't know Steve and Michael, you need to know that they both have healthy heads of long hippie type hair.If you got it flaunt it.(although it does appear that they both have resorted to dying it grey) They're also great players and great guys and they've known each other for many years. I hate to diffuse this thread by this revelation. |
