Hey guys. I can't get the sound I want (Or any good sound for that matter). I know its not the Amp. All the pros use them. I'm not even getting close to the sound I had on an old CRATE amp. I'm in desperate need of help. Is anyone willing to give their setup? I would appreciate it. Thanks.
P. S., Does anyone know Mr. Hughey's settings? I know I have a totally different steel, but It would be a good starting point.
I play an MSA Vintage XL, if it helps
Finally, My new EVANS AMP arrived, but I need help with the

Mr. Hughey's settings won't make you sound like him. Turn a few knobs and get after it. The best advise I could give is to start at 'flat' and go from there. You want a starting point? Try '0'. Turn them knobs 'till it sounds good to you.
Oh, by the way, all pros do not use Evans amps....not even close. Easy boys, just makin' an observation/comment/judgement call.
[This message was edited by Jeff Peterson on 23 December 2002 at 05:03 PM.]

[This message was edited by Jeff Peterson on 23 December 2002 at 05:04 PM.]

I know it won't make me sound like him, nor do I want to sound like him. I want to sound like me. But, I need somewhere to start.
I've tried doing that. I even set it to the examples. I think their might me something wrong with it. The overtones (Distortion) Are louder than the true notes. That's when the Scruff (Distort) is totally off. It even distorts really bad on the examples. I was wondering also what's going on. And, I noticed, there is a really noticable hiss when treble is turned just slightly on, and it grows when you hit the strings. What is wrong with this thing?

If your knobs have a boost and a cut (numbers on both sides of 0) then start at 0
Otherwise start at 5

Well, I think I figured it out. I replaced one of my cables and it works fine now! I'm such a moron. hehe
Sorry about wasting your time, guys. I've never sounded better with this amp. It's the best investment I ever made.
I've played through the Peavey Nashville 1000's and all that, but when a guy plays through an EVAN's, after playing through a Peavey, the Peavey sounds just totally false. It's like comparing a river to an ocean. Just my opinion.
