Just caught Dan Dugmore playing with Travis Tritt and Ray Charles. A real good show, I really don't like Travis' stuff much, but with Ray, he was great. Dan played some real nice stuff on his Sho-Bud, and Brent Mason was good on guitar.

Dan really plays on alot of stuff these days and I like the fact that his style is unique and recognizable. He really knows how to back up a singer.

It you didn't catch it you can always see the re-broadcast at least 1 or 32 times .

It was a tribute to Dan Dugmore and Brent Mason that they knew when NOT to play and stay out of Ray and Travis's way. This is a talent in itself. I play the same Sho-Bud as Dan because of Dan. He is a very recognizable steel player, which is one of the best compliments a steel player can have. Big bodied Sho-Bud Pro-II with single coils played through a black face Twin Reverb with (1) 15. Dan is a friend of mine and I will be seeing him next week in Nashville. I am very proud that he has played to two succesive generations (Linda Rhondstadt and James Taylor in the seventies) and is still being heard on top hits from such people as Travis Tritt (he actually played acoustic on Legend of Bonnie and Clyde), Martina McBride and Gary Allen.

Kevin, Say hello to Dan for me, I bought his Red S-10 Sho-Bud from him a few years ago, I just wish I could play it like him. He is a real monster, really love his playing on the Phoenix Concerts with John Stewart.

I enjoyed this show, although I was disappointed that Ray wasn't more 'committed' to the event. He seemed to me to be on 'stand-by', somehow, if that makes any sense. I love the way he uses that pitch-control on his piano solos - he must be trying for those PSG licks !

Travis Tritt has never been one of my favourites, but I think he sang very well on this occasion - it must have taken some nerve for him to pull off his 'Georgia On My Mind'/Ray Charles impression right in front of the Man himself!

Just like the recent 'Crossroads' with JT and the 'Chicks', the band was excellent...

Roger;
I don't think Ray saw the impression...

Dan did a great job on Jamie Richards' new cd. He played on the majority of the 13 cuts, along with Bruce Bouton and Gary Thorson. Jamie is a fellow Oklahoman, and is getting ready to release another single from the cd. Also, it's always good to see a Sho~Bud on tv!
