George Strait's steel player is Mike Daily. He plays a black Zumsteel D-10 and has been with George and his band since the start of George's career. Brett Day, Emmons S-10

Thanks a lot, Brett. I didn't know if he had a band per se or if he just hired Nashville cats...

In my opinion, George Straight has one of the best bands in the business. It almost makes up for his recording the occasional piece of garbage between his usual top notch material.

I think I saw Mike in the audience at the Dallas show last March. Anyone confirm?

and I don't believe there to be any "Nashville" in his band in any way, shape, or form - they're pure Texas, as most if not all of Strait's band members are local San Marcos, Poteet, Pearsall buddies of his dating back to the late 70's when George was simply the lead singer of the "Ace in the Hole Band".

Right, the way I got it, the band was formed first, and they hired ol' George later. Don't think they'll cast him off just yet.
