Whoever is sending unsolicited emails (it shows from " steelguitarsupport") to forum members about MSA matters should at least have the decency to sign the email with a real name. Please be sure you take me off your list...

Yeah, and the guy should lose his forum membership.

I get enough junk mail without having some steel playing psycho sending me spam about his personal disputes.

The e-mail message states:

simply reply with the word "Remove" in the subject line. You will not again be contacted

Seems easy enough.

I agree with John also in that whoever is sending these emails should be up-front with who he or she is (or who 'they' are). Qualifying yourself as a consumer watchdog is different than expressing your personal experiences or opinions (and you are opening yourself up to potential litigation as well).

I've just received it, too - it arrived, appropriately enough, in my 'junk mail' folder....

I want to make it clear that the Forum is not involved in this spamming. The mailing list did not originate here. Only the staff has access to the Forum mailing list, and we haven't sent out a mass mailing in years.

I also disagree with the content of the email, and have written the author about it.

I do not support spam in any form. I truly feel sorry for the folks who were on the wrong end of the bankruptcy. At least one person who lost money has publicly stated that he is involved in a restitution program that he is satisfied with. I am heartened to see this. The world is not fair, and bad things can... and do, happen to good folks.

I wish all involved peace and closure.

I'm getting e-mails from both sides, and I replied to the original e-mail with "Remove" in the subject line. Hopefully that will be the end of it as far as I'm concerned.

I'm sure you're right, b0b, but let's also be realistic. What is most likely happening is that the turd is scouring the Forum to collect email addresses from posters' profiles and then compiling his own list for his nasty spam purposes. I think such misuse of the Forum email addresses is as bad as getting a hold of your "formal" email listing. The effect is the same. Spam.

Maybe so, Jim, but the only choice is to make your email address unviewable in your Profile.

Some have done this, but I don't want to.
I really enjoy the occasional unexpected emails from Forum members.

I never respond to unwanted email. I just hit DELETE. It's not worth my time and the sender will know that they've got my attention.

Right. Any Forum member can make their email address private in their Forum profile. Click "your profile" at the top of this page.

Myself, I don't get too upset about spam. I've had the same email address for about 5 years. I'm on everyone's list. Spam is the price you pay for being accessible on the Internet.

Funny thing. I didn't get it until I logged onto the forum today. Anyone else notice this? It probably is just coincidence.

Yes, Joey and b0b, of course, I know that we can delete our email addresses. My point is that, were I running the Forum (which I'm not, obviously), I would take as much offense to someone using my website to collect addresses for spam as if they had stolen my official list.

Too much spam online for sure. I finally changed my email addy a few months back to get rid of some of it. And so far as hit this button to be removed goes, I've "Unregistered" at ZZ Sounds 3 times and I still get their stuff. Think next time I get their ad I'll use their toll free number to get removed. At least that'll cost them a little.

Add me to the list. Anyone who would go about doing this type of thing with the pretentions of "protecting" the PSG players has to be questioned very seriously. It doesn't take much to really see what they are trying to do, and failing miserably. I hope who ever this is will get on with their life and quite this type of propaganda. In the mean time, I'm listening to Tommy White's new CD.

That mail goes the same place as all the other spam I get, to the attorney general of the state of Washington (it's illegal to spam in this state).
