Have You Ever Been Lonely " C6th

Post by Roy Thomson »

One of my favourite steel breaks from "Yesteryear" was in this song by Ernest Tubb and the man of course was Jerry Byrd.
I do it in an E chord here and throw in some
pedal steel licks.
I will be adding it to my Tablature list shortly.

Very nice. There are some really neat movements in it.

This was the first song I heard by Jerry. That solo break was the sweetest thing I'd ever heard! I was in high school at the time (this was in the 1980's when most kids were head bangin' to heavy metal).

I told Jerry one time how much I liked his playing on this song, and he laughed and said, "Ernest's voice did not fit that song. I just tried to play what I felt."

Great playing, Roy! As usual, your tone is awesome! Image

Another good one Roy.

How about tabs (C6th) for Tiny Bubbles; Beyond the Reef and Hawaiian Wedding Song or: Fools Rush In. The $15.00 would be in your mail box before you get the tabs completed.

Many thanks for the feedback fellas.
Les, I have Hawaiian Wedding Song on C6th
tab and MP3 on my Resophonic which sounds nice. I also have Beyond the Reef, just a matter of transposing it from the Alkire to C6th. I have downloaded Tiny Bubbles by Don Hoe and can do that also.
So I can help you learn those three songs. Image

Roy, you are using C6th then? where is your tab page? that was really very very nice sir..i just loved it...we listened to it about 6 times, very nice..the pedal licks were really a nice added touch..i am thinking of getting back into lap steel again..i had an old Gibson i think it was a student model. It had numbers on the plastic fret board, and was cream color. I sold it for $150 dollars..was that a good price, or did i mess up? it really didn't sound all that bad...what is your tuning exactly...thanks

My thanks to all for the nice comments!

George,
My list of Non Pedal Tablature is the subject of a thread in the Tablature section of the Forum. I just "bumped" it up so you
can find it easily there now.
The little student Gibson with the fret numbers is the exact same model I use on this cut and several others on my list. Image
I use the standard C6th tuning on it:
High to Low-E--C--A--G--E--C
I just bought the guitar a few months ago and paid $275 Canadian. I play it frequently and find the fret numbers very helpful. I wish my other guitars were numbered also.
