The Chalker videos are done- instructions
The 50 copies of the Curly Chalker video are done, and ready to be shipped. They cost $10 each. I'm not making a profit on this. That is what I paid.
Everybody, please send me the 10 buck plus a stamped ($2.44 in America, 3.10 in Canada) self addressed videotape mailer. I do not want to spend hours addressing mailers for everybody.
My address is
Mike Perlowin
4140 Somers Ave.
Los Angeles CA 90065-3819
I will send out the tapes as soon as I receive the mailers.

Jim- The mailers can be purchased at any stationary store and most large drug stores like Sav-on or Rite Aid.
I've just been informed that our Friends in Canada cannot buy U.S. postage. So those of you from there, send me the money to cover the mailing expenses and I'll take care of it.
Everybody, please bear in mind that the camera at the concert was not turned on untill after Curly started playing, and the video starts in the middle of the first song. It's that way on the original recording and nothing can be done about it.
Also, please remember that the technical quality of the video is is worse than terrible. However it might be possible to burn a new DVD master, copying the performances from the original unedited tapes, (which I also still have) thus saving a couple of generations and improving the quality considerably. I will look into this at some future point.

Actually folks I think Mike is playing down the quality a little so those super critical among us won't be dissapointed, compared to some home style steel videos I have seen it's not all that bad, the tone isn't wonderful and the pictue isn't crisp like a professionally done video would be but it's not so far off that it's a drag to watch or listen to---Plus---it's the only chance any of us will get to see CC in action these days and IMHO that's not to be missed.

Hey Mike, this is what I did, seems like a good plan that might help some of the guys.
I went to the US post office, got a 10.00 M.O., they gave me a priority mail box {looks like it's exactly the right size} had the return priority postage put on it, addressed it to myself, and then they gave me a priority mailer that held it and the money order, and addressed it to you. Priority mail both ways and the total cost , including the money order----$18.50. Seemed cheap enough to me.
My thanks again
Jim Florence

The first half of the video (Actually, the first 75 minutes) was shot in early December, 1986, at the now defunct California Country Club. The club owner, Jack Lox, was a steel guitar fanatic. He ALWAYS had a steel player on his bandstand. Wouldn't hire a band without one.
Jack produced several concerts. Others who performed included Doug Jernigan, Jimmy Day, Buddy Emmons, Mike Cass, Red Rhodes, and J.D. Maness. He also produced one shot featuring local players in which I performed.
Jack videotaped all his shows. He graciously allowed me to come to the club the next day and copy this one. I wish I had done the same with all of the others, which have been lost.
The remaining 45 minutes of the video were taped at Scotty's Christmas party, 2 weeks after the first concert.

I sent mine off this morning. Walgreens didn't have specific videotape mailers, but a 6x9" padded mailer held a tape well, so I hope that will work.
The hardest part was getting the moron at the Post Office to figure out how to add stamps together to come up with $2.44 postage! I finally showed him that three $.80's and one $.04 added up.

Hi Mike, I will send the required postage and mailer to you tomorrow. Thanks for taking the time to do this service, (not to mention the expense), it is appreciated. ...jeff
[This message was edited by Jeff Bradshaw on 13 September 2002 at 07:36 PM.]

A big "You're welcome" to all. This was something that needed to be preserved and shared. There was no way I could sit on this and keep it to myself. It would have been wrong for me to do so.
Which bring up the question, are there any other steel guitar concert videos out there that deserve to be made public?
