...what's there to hitting a golf ball? You just sit that little sucker on the tee and whack it;___right? Image

Well, actually some people make millions ($) as others come to watch them hit that little sucker and some must actually pay so that they, themselves, can play and then spend a great deal of time looking for a lost ball.

...what's there to playing a steel guitar? You just sit that bar on the strings and pick those suckers,___right?

Does it make a difference how we do things?
It makes a huge difference.

Ricky, Hope things are going well for you, the road must get weary. I tend to be a homebody myself.
I saw the tail end of Dale's show in Philadelphia a few weeks back and his show isn't the same without you playing. Hope you guys do some recording together at least, he needs your interplay.
Take it easy bro.

Craig; things are going great>thanks for asking......actually I'm playing steel guitar as much as I always have. Just recorded on the new Kodak commercial....and Texas Lottery commercial....loads of fun there......and Playing with Redd Volkaert Tomorrow....and other local folks here in Austin. Did the Texas run with Heather Myles last week....and she's coming back in October....probably do that too unless she brings Rick....then we'll do twin steels....ah...ha. Also pickin' with a few Dallas and Ft. Worth bands on the weekends.....hell anybody need a Steel player......ha.... Image Image
Oh and Golf.......well the best thing about Golf is when your out there; "your not thinkin' about anything else in life, but Golf".......it's a great mind clear, no matter how good or bad you are....everyone needs something like that in their life; or they'll go crazy.

I agree Ricky, but I bet you had the same thoughts when you picked up playing steel.
Anyway, that's why I can't stop anymore....so i'd go crazy either way, I guess....

Come to think of it Rob......"Your right".
The Steel guitar is the same for me as Golf is.
But these days sometimes when I'm playing steel guitar at a gig where obviously it's just not worth even setting up....I find myself playing 18 holes at my favorite course....in my head....while I'm just trying to get through that gig.....ah...ha.
I never play steel guitar in my head while I'm playing Golf.

Ricky, Is that close to heaven? Playing golf in the mornings and the steel in the evenings? Wow!
