Corky Owens is playing with Gene Watson. I saw them in Llano, Texas last month and Corky was playing a Franklin. He told me he had a new red birdseye mica Carter ordered.

That's Yamaguchi, but yes, he plays Excel...it's made him a hero in Japan...home-grown and all. Slim is a great player, and I've gotten to share the stage with him many times. Nice guy, no doubt.

Corky just became a forum member.

I guess the tests are getting easier. Image

Slim does play Excel, I had the pleasure of working with him in 99 at the London Paladium with Mark Chestnut. Slim is a real gent and a genuine master of his craft. He played it through a Lexicon reverb and an Evans pre amp direct into the PA.

I knew Slim in Okinawa, when he used to play with Charlie Nagatani's Western Cannonballs band. He played well then and was using a Japanese Steel then. Nice guy,
good played and they had an excellent gal
singer with them. They played extended tours
of Okinawa because there were lots of Bases
there. Also saw Corky with Gene at Lawn, Pa
and he was really getting after that Franklin. TJH
