sonny played the opry inlater yrs with Ewldon and Hal. Sonny passed away several yrs ago. Was noted for the TN vols sticker on the front of his guitar. If you have somr of the old Opry films sonny can be see playing his bigsby with one pedal and later two. cc |

I believe the artist on Sun was Dorsey Burnette. CC, thanks for the update, sorry to hear Sonny passed away, enjoyed his playing for years. |

Hello,
NO-No-Sonny Burnette has NOT passed away. He retired from the Opry and moved up near Dale Hollow Lake where he is enjoying fishing and doing nothing. We talked with him last year when Hal Rugg's wife died and he said he was fine. In fact, I think he came to Vicky's visitation, but not sure. He occasionally comes to Nashville to go to the Union office but that's about the only times he makes it to town.

In '57 Sonny is the one who first told me about the new guitar co. starting called SHO-BUD and I ordered one sight unseen. I was able to purchase SHO-BUD #3, and had about a dozen more up until 1980.Since then I've been playing a Franklin D-10. I'm now paying my 3rd Franklin. #024,#069,and now #0192. Anyway,Sonny showed me one pedal change that I still have, and must have today! Sonny was a good friendly person back in the days that I worked the O'pry, I've inquired about him, but; haven't seen him since he left. Big John |
