Is it illegal (or immoral) for a player to play more than one brand?
I'm not (intentionally) being nasty, but why do we seem to expect guitar or brand monogamy? Maybe I'm unusual (I've been told that  ) but I love playing different brands on different occasions and have my own loyalties, but might show up at a gig with any axe I own.
Just curious.

That's great, Tommy. Glad to hear it. Bud makes a wonderful guitar and their customer service is second to none.
I was just curious whether others play more than one brand. I love the option of having both push-pull and all-pull guitars to choose from. Like I said, maybe I'm unusual in that regard.

| It may not be as unusual as you think. I have three different brand basses, four different brand guitars, two different brand steels, who knows how many different amps. I'm not the only one who just feels differently from day to day. I couldn't see myself being as loyal to one guitar as Lloyd Green. However, maybe I haven't found "the" guitar like Mr. Green has. Or maybe I'm just trying to find the instrument that will make me sound like I have talent!!!! |

One reason guys might stick to one brand, besides continuity of feel and sound, is the issue of pedal spacing.
Personal example: I predominantly play old Emmons (wide spacing) guitars, but I have a beautiful looking, playing, and sounding Fessenden also. Every time I played it, though, my feet tended to want to go where the Emmons pedals are, rather than where the Fessy pedals are (on C6, of course). So, I had Jerry respace my pedals so that they line up more like my Emmons. The guitar is finished and I am anxiously awaiting the return of my Fessy.

That's exactly the combination I use, Herb, and I understand what you mean. But I switch back and forth often enough (almost 50/50 lately) that I seem to be used to both at the same time, if that makes any sense.

My personal opinion is that any company should be grateful to have the quality of player like Tommy White .Mr White takes the instrument to another level. We'll all agree
that there are a lot of fine instruments in the marketplace but without the talent and work ethic of exceptional players they're just pretty machines with a dollar sign connected. The soul of the instrument is sitting on the pac-a-seat. All the pedals and
knee levers and pickups and amps can play is
dead.

I played for 29 years without a pak-a-seat. bought one a couple of years ago and it didn't help my playing at all.

Tommy obviously heard me play one at the Carter booth in St Louis. I received mine in
Jan 2002 and I knew that once he found out it woulden't be long before he would have to get one. I just knew it.
It's a great!! guitar. Hope you enjoy it.

I have found that sometimes the addition of or change of a guitar, effects device, amp etc., seems to "stir up" the creative juices...(at least that excuse works with my wife!)
