I just ordered a cd called "Steel Guitar by Moonlight" It's a good example of the Steel being used for music other than country. Some of the songs on this cd are, "O Sole Mio" "As Time Goes by" "You Made Me Love You"
"Stardust" "Sorrento" "Moon River" I know I'm going to enjoy this cd a lot.I wish they would have listed the Steelers that performed these songs, but They did'nt. You would think If they had, they would sell even more cd's. Leigh

It's a great CD. Shows off very well what a steel in the hands of great musician can do.
My copy gets lots of playing time.
I don't know how much recognition Robby Turner gets, but I'm sure it's not enough.
Can't forget all the backup players...also a great job.

Dave:
Try Scotty's, he probably has it. Al Brisco of Steel Guitars Canada also has it listed in his catalogue.

That album sounds great. I used to play all those great songs in the old days.
I wondered why we don't hear more of that, to show the versatility of the Pedal Steel Guitar, outside of country?

It is a great versatile musical instrument, and there are now great players playing it.

Maybe we ought to call it an "Electric Harp" as Bill Stafford does. It has strings and pedals same as a Harp....al

I think Bill calls his guitar an "Electric Harp" because it has as many strings as a regular harp!!!

He DOES play it FINE, though.

I'm gonna contact Robby and get a copy of his new one... I've gotta hear that album with those tunes on it!!

This is a great CD but it's not new. I've had my copy for at least a year now. You can find it almost anywhere. Amazon has it here:

I have had this album for over a year.Robby told me that it was not made as a steel guitar album but as an easy listening album.

He was expected to play more in the contextt of the rest of the band rather than as a featured player,if I remember our conversation correctly.

At any rate it makes for good listening and tasty steel guitar work by Robby.I reccommend it as a steel guitar album even if it was not supposed to be.
