Hi Joel,
Looks like an early photo of James Clell Summey, AKA Cousin Jody. Cousin Jody played with Lonzo & Oscar on The Grand Ole Opry. He always referred to his steel guitar as his "Biscuit Board." He once recorded an instrumental called "Jody's Chimes."
I remember seeing Cousin Jody on the Ed Sullivan show around 1959 or 1960.???
Cousin Jody died in the mid 1970s of a heart attack.

| Yeah Roger, I think you're right. Jody was the only one I ever knew that wore his hat that way! I believe his song "Jody's Chimes" was just his own version of the old Hawaiian standard "Maui Chimes". |

It looks like a Gibson that had the frets numbered put out in the mid 50's. I think it is Jody.

| I have a lap steel just like that. I found it in my father in law's garage. It has the frets numbered, and is the most ugly guitar I've seen. It is white with a brown fret board and brown tail cover. In spite of its looks, it sounds pretty good. |
