I have both good and bad news about this. the record company who released Firebird Suite and was supposed to release WSS a year and a half ago, is going out of business. They are not releasaing any more CDs at all, and will be selling off their existing stock and deleteing items from their catalog as they sell out. Theoretically I'm still under contract, but they told me to do whatever I want. They would not stand in my way of signing to another company or releasing the CD myself.

I am in the process of looking for another record company, but until I find another, I will be pressing up limited quantities of the CD and selling them privately. I will have 25 or 30 copies with me in Dallas, where they will be available at Maurice Anderson's booth. If anybody who is not going to Dallas wants a copy, E-mail me.

The CD was supposed to be released in November of 2000. The company has been holding back it's release in hope of solving the problems which led to it's demise. I unbderstand what those problems are, but this has been very frustrating. I know there was some interest in the CD a year ago. I hope it hasn't waned completely.

You guys who love "new frontiers" steel playing might want to take the chance to grab one of these from Mike while you can- It's a fantastic recording and a super achievement- Mike's really breaking ground with what and where steel can do and go. I love this CD.

Like most all of you,,,,you have heard the best of the best,,,Emmons,,Chalker,,Boggs,,
Murphey,,Lloyd Green,,,, and so many many more. I cant list them all...

I cant list all of my favorites,,as I have many ,,Speedy Herb R.Herb Steiner, Jim Cohen, etc etc, I hear Mikes CD and a first I
wondered,,,what is Mike doing??? what a change from what Iam accustomed to hearing.

The more I listened,,,the more I liked,,,he is breaking new ground here with his unique
style and its not about Mike Perlowin as far as his abilty to play steel guitar,,but his
being able to see a different place in music
for the steel guitar other than what we take for granted,.

My appreciation for Mikes effort is 100% & I'm sorry to learn that he has run into problems getting his CD realeased. They say good things take a while to happen...I hope this runs true for Mike,,,he deserves a A for effort,,,Im a fan of his,.

Good luck Mike,,,my plate is full here with illness with my wife and myself so I wont be
doing much posting from here on in, But I wish you nothing but the best.

You certainly opened my eyes and ears with your CD,,,
Be Well and again,,,,,,Good Luck Keep the Faith,,

Jody

I heard a rough mix of Mike's work about a year ago. It was wonderful. I played it over and over. I made a tape so I could listen in my car. Great songs, and well played.
I urge all steel players to hear this stuff.

Thanks guys. It's nice to know people like my stuff.

Jody, I'm sorry to learn you and your wife are ill. If I could have 3 wishes, the very first would be for the eradication of all diseases.

For whatever it's worth, you have my prayers for a full recovery.

I, too, have heard this project in from some of its earliest stages to the finished master recording. I think this is a great CD both musically and sonically. I enjoyed Firebird very much, but I think he has surpassed it on both counts. I also think that a larger number of you forumites will find the music more accessable. I tend to be rather eclectic in my musical taste and background so I enjoyed is romp into the classical arena. "Westside Story" has more of a popular/common man appeal that I think the masses can really connect to. I hope that a lot of you take advantage of this opportunity, because I feel it's music worthy of anyone's pedal steel CD collection. Another thing that needs to be remembered about Mike's works are that they are not something that's turned out in a couple sessions at a recording studio, but months of transcribing, learning parts, and painstakingly recording each part, until he finally has a finished product.
