This sounds like good news Billy. Congrats!
I had to smile when I read about your prayer requests. "One for my Heart Condition, one for my Steel"
Isn't is crazy the way we love this instrument?
If your Steel prayer is answered, your heart condition can't be far behind.
[This message was edited by Joey Ace on 23 February 2002 at 05:41 AM.]

... or at least something is at the Greensboro Hub! Personally, I'm waitin' for the fat-lady to sing!
Meanwhile, I think I'll start work on the lyrics to my new song, "The Ballad of Billy Jenkins". I think it could be a niche-market hit...
[This message was edited by Jim Cohen on 23 February 2002 at 09:51 AM.]

First of all, I want to say that I'm glad to see this matter come to a happy ending.
Secondly, though, I think that comments like Harry's "individuals raped by corporations" and the whole "get a rope" attitude is really unfair to Ron Lashley Jr. The fact that he doesn't participate in this Forum should not be seen as an excuse for bashing.
The Emmons company is very small. I'm a small businessman myself, and I shudder to think of the damage than can be done in a Forum like this. Most of those slinging mud are not actually Emmons customers. Some may actually work for Emmons competitors.
On a closing note, I want to point out that what is said on this Forum can have legal ramifications. The Forum can't afford to be dragged into court on any side of any issue, right or wrong. Please consider your words carefully before you hit the "Submit" button.
Thanks for listening.

I'm certainly glad to see this whole thing come to an end, too, and particularly with Billy getting his steel. But, with all due respect to -b0b- who said:
I agree that there is no excuse for bashing, whatever the reason, but I thought the Forum was supposed to be about the free exchange of ideas. You might not always like what you hear, but we're a good group and pretty derned tame - all things considered. In this case, I believe that it was not unfair that these events were brought into public view.
As far as fairness is concerned, I further believe that the interactions of the Emmons Co. and Billy Jenkins clearly spoke for themselves - at least to me and the other folks who presented reasonable comments throughout this thread. Mr. Lashley is free to post here just like everyone else, and in fact, I further believe that any comment from him would not only have been very welcome, but it also would probably have gone a long way to quell people's fears and irritation. Far from being dominated by a lynch mob mentality, I believe that most readers here were more of a mind to want to understand the situation and to find some reason to be patient of a business in a state of flux....ESPECIALLY when that company has been so historically important to the steel guitar community. If anything, I always figured that most folks would want to give the company the benefit of any doubt that would arise.
In short, I believe that if any damage was done here, it was because the situation was apparently just generally handled very poorly - not by any comments made on this thread - even those emotional ones that perhaps were made in haste.
I also wish the Emmons Co. the best of luck in their future endeavors.
And that is my take on things.
there were some legitmate, fair-minded concerns expressed in this thread, and whether or not Ron Lashley, Jr. chooses to participate in this Forum has little bearing on how folks perceived, and chose to comment on, this whole mess. My opinion. The fact that he [Ron Lashley, Jr.] doesn't participate in this Forum should not be seen as an excuse for bashing.

To sum up, I don't consider the reactions expressed here on the Forum to be any more damaging than the events that prompted them. The Emmons company is very small. I'm a small businessman myself, and I shudder to think of the damage than can be done in a Forum like this.

MrHess, as soon as I can get it out of the case and set up, I will take photo's of it, and besides that, When I bought this guitar from Then the Aycoth Emmons Co. I also bought a new Evans SE200 amp. and a Hilton pedal, knowing that this would be the last chance to get another steel, now that they put me on A fixed income, and none of the above has ever been turned on or used, it looked like their for a while I would end up selling everything, but I'm so glad I hung in there. Mr.Cohen, if you would write a song like that, they may use that rope on you and I.....lol
God Bless .

Well, thought I'd write a Haiku (you know, Japanese poetry traditionally composed in 5-7-5 syllables)in honor of the occasion
Billy ordered steel
had to wait a long time but
Emmons has shipped it
Hope you get a great deal of enjoyment out of your steel Billy

I, for one, do not believe that ANY of the nearly two-hundred 'posts' on this thread had any consequence in the outcome of this matter.
I believe that Mr Jenkins was ultimately going to get his guitar because, when I was at the factory in mid-October last year, Ron told me he would.
It was no direct concern of mine, and I certainly didn't ask him - it just came up in a conversation that took place long before THIS particular 'thread' had been started.
Ron has chosen, so far, not to participate actively on this Forum, and I respect his right to make that choice; my impression is that, even if he were inclined to do so, he would be far too busy. I do think that some of the 'posts' have gone too far, and this is unfortunate.
I'm pleased that Billy's guitar is on it's way, but I'm not surprised.......

Hey Fellow Forum Members, I'm not going to get into a Pi$$ing contest with any of you over this matter.Like Ron Preston and several others I have just been lurking and hoping for the best.If the guitar does indeed get to Billy and I am confident it will,I think Becky and Ron Jr. are due a big
apology from this forum and a big ole atta boy (and girl) for hanging in there and trying to correct this mess which was apparently not of their making. I didn't mean b0b when I mentioned "this forum".Come on guys, toe the mark and try to make things right with the Lashleys. There were a few low blows thrown at Ron,Jr.which were unnecessary IMHO. Hey fellow Forum Members: Like Ron Preston and several others I have just sit here
"lurking" while all this has progressed. If
Billy gets his guitar and I am confident he will I think this forum owes Ron Jr.& Becky an apology and a big ole "atta boy (and girl) for standing in there and trying to right a wrong which apparently they had no part in creating. Now, when I say "this Forum" I do not mean b0b. All those so anxious to form a lynching party should be the first to step forward. There were also some pretty low blows thrown Ron Jr's way which I for one feel were unnecessary. OK,
have I opened myself up for some bashing? I hope not. It is time to get on with something more constructive.

Although things were not handled in a timely fashion concerning Billys Steel, the bottom line is that Ron Lashley and the Emmons company DID make things right with Billy and if I read things right he probably didnt make a dime in doing so. Kudos to the Emmons Guitar Co. for doing the right thing. Now THAT speaks volumes.

I knew that Ron and Rebeca would come through on this matter. And knowing Ron like I do, I can just hear him now. " Well, folks, I do not care what you say about me, Just sit and watch what happens here") If I took a shot in the Dark, I would have to assume that Ron and the Co. got caught right in the middle of the switching names, and all the legal jargon that goes on when people bail out of a buisness. I am just happy that Mr. Jenkins will get his guitar, and that the future of the Emmons guitar Co. will strive in this time of trouble. I would STILL buy an Emmons from Ron, now matter what. They STILL make the greatest steel guitar in the world.
