This is not a good story, it really makes no difference if 1 guitar was ordered by a private individual or 30 ordered by Bobbe S. It just gets placed in line with 'em all. In our family buisness we take multiple orders from dealers and onesy's and twosy's from the common folks, actually , the onsy's and twos'ys get shipped first because they are simple/fast to fill and I love runnin' those credit cards thru !. Reading all this about the Emmons Co, I would probably just buy a new one from Bobbe S and even at that I would expect it personally hand delivered the next day ! Heck even the same day !( that would include giving Bobbe a sandwhich and a Coke for lunch) I'm way to impatient to wait half a year for anything. I have visited Rebecca and Ron Jr. a couple of months ago when they took back the operation. I can say that I feel after meeting and speaking with them they are working hard to gain back what had been lost and Ron's idea of a quality product or component is second to none. Unfortunatly the amount of time they may require to put it back together may not meet with the demands of those that are still waiting for an Instrument to be delivered. I'm contemplating an Emmons Guitar purchase late this year and my feeling is I would just go get it from Bobbe S. ( new or used )
PS , Bobbe it would be P+J on Whole Wheat with an OJ.

So far, I've just been watching this thread, and I can't believe you still don't have your guitar. For a problem to go on uncorrected this long has to be a comedy of errors, or total lack of a customer service ethic on the part of Emmons, Inc..

This has caused more bad publicity for them than Ralph Nader did for the Corvair! And, if they realized that fact, they'd give you the damn guitar, and your money back, as well.

Way back in the olden days, Billy Robinson, steel, and Grady Martin, standard guitar, were playing Bigsby's with Red Foley. Other pickers were arriving on the scene, also with Bigsby guitars. At that time, this was not only a measure of a quality instrument but also, a certain degree of "Cadillac status", if you will.
In about 1950, I started negotiating the design of my Bigsby, Quad-8 with six pedals, directly with Paul Bigsby. Paul manufactured just one steel guitar per month. He'd already met the demands of the top pickin' stars, Speedy West, Joaquin Murphy and countless other steelers.
At that time time, for the quality instrument and set-up that I had ordered, there was a five (5) year waiting list. In 1953, Paul had a cancellation of a young man that was drafted into the military and who released his "delivery date". Paul offered me that earlier delivery and as it was, I did receive my guitar in April, 1956.
I already had a triple neck Fender that I'd purchased out of the store window along with a Fender Bassman 4 x 10 amp. But when that Bigsby arrived, I was the proudest peacock on the walk.
My Bigsby cost me $100.00 down; and the balance of the $1,005.00 on delivery.
In the early 1970's, I ordered my Emmons dbl-10 DIRECT from the Emmons Co. I realize it was a different owner/staff, etc.,
however, they delivered everything to me they said they would and it arrived earlier than they had estimated. When I found the G# string broken and the neck selection switch inoperative, I phoned and received the replacement PLUS extra strings, within just three to five days. This guitar has NEVER seen the inside of a repair station/shoppe since I purchased it. Like the Bigsby, it has more than earned for me, it's original cost PLUS the pride of ownership of such a fine piece of equipment. Reliable, attractive and great sounding!
Yet, after waiting forty five (45) years
with no DEALER in site, I stumbled onto my first Rick Bakelite. In just a little over three (3) years now, I have acquired the dbl-8 wood model PLUS, the 4 six stringers and the 3 seven stringers. The forty five (45) year wait for these little antiques.... was greatly offset by the beauty of these little rigs, the ease of playing them, that fantabulous Rick sound which is the basis now of my musical pleasure........and t'was a small price to pay for the end result that I today enjoy.
Now, let it be clearly understood: I am not a patient person!! I want everything I want RIGHT NOW! No excuse is plausible or acceptable in my way of thinking. I wanted that Rick the first instant I discovered that JB was playing one. That only fueled the flame of desire! I've paid much more for the last two Ricks than I did the first two, BUT..........I wanted them and I bought them.......even tho' I'm on Social Security.
If that Emmons is WHAT you wanted with all of your heart........try to be patient.
Perhaps you might do it differently next time but this is the real world. A good attorney, acting on your behalf, might very well be able to kindle a new found flame in the motivational department at the Emmons Co. He likely can develop within them...a burning desire (like your own!)to come thro' with a prompt delivery or get your money back posthaste so that you can walk into Bob Seizemore's fine shoppe and pick up the one you really want with all of the bells and whistles attached, plus a friendly smile, pat on the back, and even perhaps a swirl cone from the naboring Dairy Queen. Who knows, he might even toss in a free airplane ride over the capital of country music....and maybe even a baseball cap with his store logo on it.
Give it some thought....then "ACT"!!!
Being a good neighbor and waiting....some times just can't get the job done in a reasonable time. Complaining thro' frustration seldom accomplishes anything worth while, but I do understand where you're coming from. BELIEVE ME!!
Make the best of the given situation. If that doesn't work, seek out the next best alternative available to you.
Good Luck now! You're gonna look really impressive sitting there behind that beautiful NEW EMMONS and I expect to see a photo posted on this very Forum, sharing with the rest of us, the excitement you'll be feeling. Okay?
NOW, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

Billy,
You have the patience of a saint.
I sure hope the lies have stopped and you'll get the guitar you already paid for.

If I were in your shoes, and if I got finally got the guitar, and if I was as pleased with it as I had hoped,...
I would cover up the nameplate with a Flag ( or whatever) sticker. I wouldn't want to be a poster-boy for a company that caused such
heartache and stress.

Just MHO..

God bless ya Billy!

Those are my feelings also, Its not in Ron Jr's best interest to turn out a second class product.

Ron Jr has become involved with the Mid Atlantic Steel Guitar Association www.masga.org and according to Skip Mertz plans to put on one of our Jams at Burlington toward the end of April or May.

I think Ron Jr may have had a lot of fires to put out since taking the operation back over and I am glad to see its back in Lashley hands. My opinion is he will do the right thing, because its in his best interest to do so.

Time will tell.

When I was a little feller, I would try to pull one over on my mom and lie about something. She would say....Robert, If you lie to me one time, why should I ever believe you again?.

That has stuck with me through life and I'm like someone said about Buddy Emmons....If you don't want to hear the truth, you better not ask me.

I don't remember how many times Ron Jr has lied to Billy, but God's gonna get you for that Ron.

I'm not pulling for you anymore, and I don't understand how you can lie to everyone on this Forum, that's what you do when you lie to Billy, you are lieing to all of us. Do you think any of us can ever believe you again.

I'm hopeing what goes around, comes back around, and Buddy Emmons get's ownership of his own name back. Then an Emmons Steel can really be an Emmons.
