While Box Car Willie is still in our limelight, I want to offer a half dozen Ernie Ball 11R strings, postage paid to the person with the first posted correct answer to that age old question here on the Forum:
WHO PLAYED STEEL ON:
BOX CAR WILLIE'S first recording session ?
I'm not rich; just overstocked at the moment.
And I have the correct answer already.....
Regards, Paul |

Hmmmm...let's see...he started in the mid '70s, and didn't want to sound too "uptown country".
Maybe...Curley Chalker? |

Was it You? I remember Box as Marty Martin, a DJ in Idaho. Maybe some picker from out this way; just a guess. |

Jim; You got it !! Boys, I hate to leave good company but I left something burning at home.
Reece sent me a very nice e-mail today and told me how his wife Teresa's dad got Martin (Box Car ) to come to Dallas and do a recording session. That in fact is where he first met Teresa when he was called to play steel for the session. Actually, knowing Box Car's music, I didn't think anyone would get it for a long time. We all tend to place steel players in certain categories and I'm no exception. Still I thought it was a neat story and I liked the way it turned out....for everybody !!
Jim: Send your snail mail address to my e-mail and those strings are yours !! It's been a business doing pleasure with all of you !!
