Playin with Jack Green

Post by randy »

I went to see Jack Green on New Years Eve at Nashville North in Taylorville, Illinois. He sang with the house band which included Mike Spaeth on Steel guitar. Mike did a wonderful job backing Jack,(sounds funny don't it), but he just killed when the house band was doing a medly of Patsy songs.

If any other HOF's are looking for a real country band to back you, get in touch with the folks at Nashville North. They're for real.

Oh yeah...Mike is the one that got me started on the steel. Great Guy.

Jack is very amicable. I got to pick with him here in Florida two years ago.

There is a picture on my web site.

Randy, I played a steel show in the late 70's in Decatur, Illinois. Bill and Mike Spaeth put on this show. I met Bill Stroud (BJS bars) there and we played a set together. Mike S. and Bill Stroud were great steel players then. I bought one of the first BJS bars at the show. Remember that, Bill?
How can I reach Mike?

Did Jack do the gig with his guitar player(Penn Pennington)? I played the Illinois State Fair with Penn last summer. He's afine guitar player and also plays steel. He also plays with a thumb pick and FOUR fingerpicks ! He played me a version of "ALL the Things You Are" for me that he produced that was amazing. It had an acapella intro ala Take Six and the rest of the tune had Doug Jernigan,Tommy White and Brent Mason on it. Yikes!
