Okay Bobbe! You've successfully captured both my attention and my curiosity. So, the question: After having closely observed the
lines from top to bottom, front to backside,
and in and out......that beautiful little blond thing simply does not look like a C/172 and that is what I tho't you told me you had. It's a really cherry looking C-mdl. What power plant do you have in it? 205 or 225 Hp or bigger? Really enjoyed your playing there on your web site. You truly are a masterful player. BUT....is that you? OR, is that JERRY BYRD.....doing the hammer-on instrumental for that mere 37 seconds? My inquiring mind must know the answer. Okay?

Ray, there is no Jerry Byrd on my web-page. However I take this as a high compliment , knowing how you feel about the master himself.I also share your love for Jerry's touch, feel, tone, taste! I would love to be thought of as the jerry Byrd of the E9th someday,-----however, .Yes this is me,but I don't know exactly which cut you are refering to. Let me know.
As to your earlier question about the aircraft in my stable, I have three at the moment, A Moony Mite, A Piper PA22-20 that I restored myself from a basket case, now great fun. And of course the one you asked about, you have a very sharp eye Ray Montee! It is a Beechcraft Bonanza,C-35-E 225-8. Hartzell constant speed prop(hydrolic)DeShannon, "M" tips, all tail mods, spar mods, and many other speed and safety mods.Totally restored as new. My flagship. It belonged to a doctor with more money than time to fly. I no longer own the Cessna 172-H. I loved it but can't afford everything!(or anything). It was a little boring compared to the rest of the stable.I know this is a steel guitar forum but I have learned that MANY of you guys fly, own, etc, aircraft of all kinds, or have at one time in your life. Many of you were military Pilots. A lot of studio and road musicians fly in the Nashville area. Steel guitar and flying seem to have a lot in common.Think about that!
Someone start another thread and lets find out who is interested in this form of entertainment,Off subject?
Thank you again Ray Montee.

Good idea Bobbe...I also get mucho e-mail pertaining to the motorcycles on my web-site, so there are apparently lots of steel guitarists who are interested in both aircraft and motorcycles.
How about it guys? How about some input in regards to Bobbee's suggestion about an off topic pertaining steel guitar players "other" interests!

I would be the last guy in the world to alude to the fact that a fellow Forumite might be guilty of messing with the minds of his millions of friends and acquaintances from all over the world, BUT......
I do believe that YOU....Mr.Bobbe Seymour, a truly good and wonderful man of integrity and high moral character, fellow musician and steel guitarist of great status, a highly skilled airplane driver, and obviously a man who appreciates artistic beauty whereever he might see it, are guilty of such a scheme. Unless you can prove otherwise, I hereby charge you with misleading the entire Steel Guitar Forum Membership and pickers throughout this wide-wide world, by denying that Jerry Byrd can be heard on your very own, very fine Web Page. By a proponderance of evidence, the charge is undeniable. You are guilty as charged and an admission of said guilt should be immediately forthcoming from you, Sir.
Forumites, you are the jury. Listen to this webpage and with your very own ears, determine if Mr. Seymour is to be believed or not. (It is possible, that he is as great as Jerry Byrd?)
The facts speak for themselves. On Mr. Seymours webpage, one can hear on track #1, the beautiful musical rendering of Amazing Grace (3:22) by none other than Mr Seymour himself; On another track #2, you again hear Mr. Seymour playing his heart out and doing a wonderful job with Lost Loving (4:46) on e9th tuning. Excellent talent and musical execution of both tunes, without exception.
However the basis for this heated controversy and the primary issue here is on track #3; "SLIPPERY" which plays for a mere 37 seconds and is identified as http://perso.wanadoo.fr/rockin.pau/slippery.m is clearly the artistic talents of one JERRY BYRD, Master of Touch and Tone, and noted Steel Guitar Hall of Fame Member.
I believe Mr. Seymour should come forward and beg for mercy for having concocted this misleading scheme to take credit for Mr. Byrd's personal playing on his very own webpage and further, to deny that he did so right here in the Forum.
Because Mr. Seymour is an admitted and loyal fan/admirer of Jerry Byrd and his fabulous musical works......it might be possible that Mr. Seymour might "think" that it is himself that is playing "Slippery" on his webpage but, IT IS NOT.
JERRY BYRD.......folks, can be heard on the webpage of Bobbe Seymour. Case closed.

Ray, what part of my web-page are you listening to? I have never heard of a song called "Slippery", Jerry Byrd or otherwise, but then again, I don't do my web page either.Where is this "slippery" of 37 seconds on my web page? I'd love to hear it myself. I'll admit right here and now that if there is a song called "Slippery" on my web page, I didn't play it! If it is there I'll try to find out why, but I need to know where first, or are you putting me on? This is quite interesting,Is it my personal web page or the store web page? My web host is coming by tomorrow to update the stock on the site,I'll check and see what she says, but I still can't see a "Slippery" anywhere.

Ray, I still can't find it and will add that I hardly need to claim anothers work as my own. A great artist such as the great Jerry Byrd? This would be a very foolish and pointless gesture,I am quite proud of what I have done in the recording of my albums and it would be an insult to the fabulouis musicians that recorded with me to claim Jerry's work as my own. Plus, anyone in there right mind could tell Jerry's playing from mine, right Ray? Now lets find out whats happening here!

Well Bobbe.....if it was ANYONE but you, the good man that you are, I would not be as con-fused as I am at this point.
I trust you realize that I truly know that you'd NEVER claim "anyone's" playing to be your own.... not even as a joke. This goes without saying.
But, here's what I got when I visited your store site.
I clicked on the Link on this thread and ended up at your store web page. This is the beautifully illustrated HOME PAGE of Steel Guitar Nashville "Welcome".....
I next clicked on the pretty "Sho-Bud" guitar Icon......so that I could hear some of your beautiful playing that I've heard so much about, here on the Forum and elsewhere.
When REAL PLAYER comes on, it lists THREE (3) tunes; the first being Amazing Grace; next....Lost Loving (or something, I've already forgotten while typing this); and lastly, SLIPPERY (2) that to my pathetic ear, sounds a great deal like you know who.
Initially I tho't that perhaps YOU had done the recording......but the more I listened to it, the more it sounded like the MAIN MAN!
I posted the LINK in my earlier post here on the Forum and when I went back moments ago via that Link, I got the home page of some Hispanic thing-a-ma-jig or whatever.?????
Bobbe......I need your HELP! At no time did I intend to offend you and if I did, I most sincerely apologize. Please tell me this is just one of those computer glitches and not that my hearing has become impaired!
I need to know these things and look to you for guidance and support. Well?
The above steps have been observed, analyzed and acknowledged as being accurate and truthful by an impartial witness, my lovely wife. Now you can plane-ly see, I'm trying to understand what's going on here. Your pal forever, whether you like it or not.
Hopefully you'll hear it too.....and it won't turn out to be another of those horrible Senior Moments. (If my wife heard it too....does that mean she's nuts also?)
We just want to know. We appeal to you.

Hi Ray:
This is Bobbe's webmaster, Janet, and I've read your post. I have absolutely zero idea of what on earth you are talking about!! A) There is NO rendition of "Slippery" anywhere on Bobbe's website by Bobbe, Jerry Byrd or the man in the moon!
There are no 37 second anything's on the site...they're all 2- 3 minute MP3's that I personally recorded from Bobbe's CD's to my computer and then uploaded to the site.
Of course, you could be joking, or have been up far too late one night on email and got confused, but I can flat out GUARANTEE that there is no Jerry Byrd ANYTHING on either of Bobbe's websites! Where you came up with that weird link is beyond me!
Blessings,
Janet Byers

Hey Ray:
It's Janet again and I think I've figured out how on earth you heard Jerry Byrd. Well, to put it nicely, you found it somewhere else and your RealPlayer stored it for you as RealPlayer will keep a list of ALL the songs you've downloaded from anywhere for you.
I can see why you're confused but the only person in the whole world who can hear all three of those songs in a row is you...'cuz it's stuff you've downloaded to your computer!
Try clearing out your songlist and you'll see what you've done. Oh, and apologize to Bobbe because this has seemed rather insulting to him...as I'm sure you can imagine!

Okay.....to Bobbe Seymour and his fine Webmistress Janet....I want the whole world to know that I do, sincerely, and from the bottom of my heart apologize to Bobbe Seymour and everyone else who has read over my trials and tribulations about this confusing mental conflict that I alone endured and recklessly foisted off onto everyone else. For this I will henceforth post no further communications on the Forum for having caused this inexcuseable embarassment. This will be my farewell to all and to all, a good-night.
For the record, I will state, I have only recently downloaded the Real Player and have yet to find a site that has Jerry Byrd music to download. Further I have that same record and thus have never had a need to download it from anywhere. But...... the possibility that this might have occurred does hold merit and consideration.
Good-bye! I still admire you Bobbe Seymour and all you stand for.

Don't you leave this forum Ray, I have the utmost respect for you and there is NO reason for you to do anything different than you ever have . You have caused no one any embarresment. You are one of the people I admire very highly on this forum it would be a great loss to the forum if you left. You are a fellow Jerry Byrd fan, fellow pilot, fellow Bigsby owner and the list goes on.
You are and always have been my friend, I just wish we lived closer together! Maybe YOU could move! I can't leave these females.
Everything is wonderful Ray, don't make me have to come up there! Ha! Ha!
Now go to bed and sleep well!
Your good friend,
Bobbe "Slippery" Seymour

For what it's worth... this page: http://perso.wanadoo.fr/rockin.paul/Jerry%20Byrd-%20Mercury%20&%20Decca.htm
contains an icon you can click on to hear a Jerry Byrd/Walter Haynes tune called "Slippery Elm" - which, coincidentally or otherwise, is referred to in another thread, "Question about Tater" in "Our Extended Family"...
How Ray's computer managed to tie that to Bobbe's website, I leave to finer minds than mine to figure out...

Nick: Nice to see you again. I made the posts over in Extended Family/Tater with Walter Haynes and I have just now gotten back into this thread. The coincidence is surely that. I had no idea that the same song was in here.
I even made a post/request of Ray to see if he had a cut of Slippery Elm since he has such a vast collection of Jerry Byrd. I was suprized at the banter between him and Bobbe and it took a few readings to get the overall picture.
So Ray; don't you dare leave this Forum !! I want to see your input and commentaries like so many others who have become accustomed to your musical knowledge and history. You are such an asset.....
Why, well I think I can say this safely:::
Even Jody Carver likes you so you can't get better than that !!
And Bobbe will come and get you if you leave !!
Best Regards, Paul
[This message was edited by Paul Graupp on 28 December 2001 at 09:23 AM.]
