I was surprised to hear a steel guitar on our local jazz radio station KCSM. Turned out it was "Where do we go?" from Bill Frisell's album "Blues Dream". I don't have the album yet but I believe Greg Leisz is playing steel.
Real beautiful song featuring guitar, steel and horns. There are sound clips at Amazon.com click here

Thanks for the tip. It is pet peeve of mine that there is no balls in radio programming anymore! If I won the lottery I would lease or buy or start a station that wasn't owned by Citadel Broadcasting and call it renegade or outlaw something and play FM like it used to be.If you wanted standard issue, you used to turn on AM,if you wanted the good stuff there was FM here in Spokane and guys like Gentle John Budrow would play anthing you wanted and turn you on to stuff never heard before. Guys like Jerry Jeff and David Allan Coe,to Poco and Frank Zappa. Now it seems everything is owned by one or two mega monsters and a bunch of suits determine what we hear and they don't have a clue! I would LOVE to blast the airwaves with Bill Kirchen,Dale Watson,Cornell Hurd The Backsliders The Derailers and on and on,but instead we get what Travis Tritt calls an ass shakin contest!AMEN John

I'm glad that he's getting some airplay. Bill Frisell's "Happy Dog" was in heavy rotation on my CD player for a while. Greg really knows how to fit into that modern "smooth jazz" groove.

There is a station in Dallas that I absolutely love that I don't think goes off of any playlist. They play Dale Watson, Don Walser, the Robison brothers, Chris Knight and others along with old, old country. Best station I've ever heard on the air. You can listen over the internet too, they come over quite well.
