Jody....Re: Jr. Bernard....I hadn't heard of this fine western-swing guitar player in years, but in the auto line after one of our shows this summer a lady came through the line and said she had a "brother" who played guitar..Junior Bernard, and wanted to know if I had ever heard of him...I sure had. But it escapes me now if she was speaking in the past tense....Do you or anyone know if Junior Bernard is deceased or still working?

I have not heard of the whereabouts of Jr.
Bernard for years now.If it is the same one we are speaking of,,,he sure was a great player.
Hey Gene,,that fellow who posted the lyric's to "Signed Sealed and Delivered" can really
sing a great tune, I remembered those lyrics as I read his post,,,,,and I thank him for that, Robert Williams,,,much appreciated and you sing very well. be well you guys. Gene

| junior barnard is deceased--a long time ago, i'd say 1955 or even farther back, perhaps pre-1950. car accident? i haven't looked it up, but he is long gone, and sorely missed. |

I have a picture that a friend of mine let me copy taken in 1937 0f Natchie and The Arizona Indians .Fiddelin Red Cowboy Copas,Larry Sunbrack the manager Natchie the AApachie,Rusty Gabbard who played tor E Tubbs. I f any one wants this emailed I will send it to you . This is a promotinal picture and was taken behind a AABC mike and in arkansas I belive .

I thought this thread was long dead, but I just received this e-mail that answers some of the original questions discussed:

Hello. I hope you're well. E-mailed you some time back about your days with
Merl Lindsay and jsut happened to be goofing around on internet and logged
onto the Steel Guitar Forum. Saw a topic discussion about a Cowboy Copas
record and read your comment about recording with Tex Wayne. I've got a
couple of Tex's record and am, coincidentally, in the middle of writing some
sleeve ntoes to a reissue of some old records on Pappy Daily's D label out of
houston, for which Tex recorded. I was curious if you could tell me more
about him and whether you are on any of the following recordings:
My Empty Arms/Where The Honky-Tonk Fiddles Play (c. September 1961)
Angel With a Pony Tail/Standing At The Crossroads (c. April 1963)
She's Lying Again/My PArty's Over (C. feb 1964)
I think the first one was cut when Tex was in Ok City. The other two maight
date from when he had moved to South Texas, so I guess you're probably not on
them. Do you recall what label "Ace In The Hole" was on?
From what I've been told, Tex Wayne's real name was Guy Costello and he was a
policeman for a while in OK City. Does that sound right?
Since I just now looked at the Steel Forum and am not a member -- and
therefore I can't reply to discussions on the forum -- you might pass along
the following info. to those guys who were wondering who was playing on the
Cowboy Copas recording if "Jamboree" featuring Slim Idaho on steel. Tell them
it's not Junior Barnard on guitar. Believe it or not it's Jethro Burns,
playing electric guitar. the band is: Slim Idaho, steel; Jethro Burns, lead
guitar; Homer HAynes, rhythm guitar; Fiddlin' Red Herron, fiddle; probably
Louie Innis, bass. Copas was leader, but I don't think he played his guitar
on that one... it was cut around late 1946 in Cincinnati.
