Cowboy Copas "lost" record
Years ago, Cowboy Copas recorded "Hello Darling" ????? Is there one chance in a million or more, that any of you Forumites might have that old KING 78rpm disc lying around, collecting dust?

Ray...that recording sounds almost as obscure as one I played steel on about 40 years ago: "Ace In The Hole", sung by Tex Wayne!
It was also done later (and much better) by someone else. www.genejones.com

Donny......No, that wasn't me with Copas. Sure wish it had been. I dreamed my life away wanting to be on the Opry..in a big name band like Billy Robinson and Grady Martin...but. Oh well. It's just an old record that I failed to find a copy of when it was being played on the radio. Just trying to fill up some empty holes in my record collection. I've got a bunch of Copas old records...."Blues in the Moonlight" and many, many more.
Copas was born about 15 miles from my shop at Blue Creek, Ohio.As a record and memorabilia collector I have tons of things and a lot on Copas. His first record was King 505 " Filipino Baby". I have nearly complete collection of King 78,s but never heard of this one. What was the #???. I think Fred Foster played on some of the Copas records.I have a photo of Copas playing the last show he did here in his home area shortly defore he died. Jimmie Crawford was playing a D-8 Sho-Bud and he was about 18 years old.Ed Naylor Steel Guitar Works

Hi Ed! Thanx for the input. I have no record number.....it was one of those tunes you hear played as you're drivin' down the road. It's possible I guess, that the announcer was incorrect in who the singer was. I've tried for years to trace it down without luck. With your complete library of Copas material, I'm sure you would have had it, if it existed, so I'll scratch it off'n my list. THANKS AGAIN.......for your help.

Hey guys, yesterday my son gave me some 45s I
didn't even remember ever having & one of them was a King record with 4 cuts, one of which was Cowboy Copas' recording of "Jamboree" featuring Fiddlin' Red Herron,\
Slim Idaho (steel!) & a lead man he called Junior! Who was that? I used to think maybe Hank Garland??, but I never really knew? Do any of you? Do I remember an old 78 of Paul
Howard where he called out Junior & Jabbo as
twin lead guitars on some tune or other??

Gene ,,,,Junior Bernard..."BINGO".
I'll bet Jason Odd would know,,,he knows most everything. He even has a copy of my W2 form from back in 1952.
Want the lyrics to Signed Sealed and Delivered??...I have em,,,,I dont sing well at all,,,but I can send the lyrics.
Hi Kenny....the "beat does go on" my wife beat me over the head the other day,,,I dropped the turkey,,and my two pups were "on stand by" the oven.
I caught it on the way down...burned hands and all,,,with a "whack on the head as well.
Here is a few lines,,,
Signed, Sealed & Delivered,,a package containing my heart, please handle with care
its been broken,,,,forgot the rest,,,,I would think if it were UPS back then,,,,they would have broke the package,,,,those
"Careless Hands" or "You Cant Break My Heart
Its been Broken Before,,,,,"boring aint I ??
But Harmless,,,anyone know the rest of the lyrics??? here is the steel solo............
Slide,,,,harmonic,,,,slide,,palm harmonic..and now it gets better.....why you ask?? Im ending this post,,,for your sake and my consideration to others...
Edited for stupidity (mine)
[This message was edited by Jody Carver on 24 November 2001 at 09:19 AM.]

Larry M. you make mention of the " records sound like bacon frying"...I love that sound
I wish I could walk up to a jukebox, drop in a quarter and get six selections of Lefty, Carl, George,Webb, Ray, Faron, etc.. I tell young people today how the old records used to sizzle and crack but you just had to be there to appreciatee the memory. For me the new music is just to sterile. Just my opinion..regards,fred

Hi all! Thanx to each of you for taking the time to contribute. I have a photo of Copas and band.....with Bob Foster on Steel and Hank Garland on lead. I appreciate all of the input and side notes.
Mitch Drumm....I very much appreciate your info'! I just couldn't believe I was wrong on the title/artist bit, however there have been one or two occasions where I've been fooled by dj's handing out incorrect info'.
Okay Forumites....anyone out there with a copy of Cowboy Copas.....(see Mitch's contribution above!) I'll pay you a buck for a copy of it! Please!! Let's see what we can do here. It's team work at it's finest! I DARE YOU to come up with a copy of this for me. THanx!
