Great tune, I need a copy of it to use as a demo, it can even be a bad tape copy. Anyone?

Bobbe,it's been less than a month since I first talked to you about doing the Ray Price tribute. You would have to agree the responce has been remarkable.Last week ,I personally thanked you for your willingness to take on this tribute, you are not only a great steel guitar player, you are also a very special person. Also, want to thank the players that responded to this post, indicates that traditional country music is alive and well and the instrument we all love and guys like Bobbe Seymoure are truly"PRICELESS"

Myron,
I don't think so because at that time he was a rocker. Maybe later on, but I've never heard It and I have all his country stuff.

I've lost track...is "Another Bridge To Burn" on the list? Also, even tho many have done it, "Danny Boy" would be fitting for a Price tribute.

Bobbe, I can copy "Walk Me To The Door" to tape from a scratchy old LP if you want.

I'm certain Smiley has the original "walk me to the door in perfect shape. And Conway did record it in fact it was when he went total Country. In fact he wrote it.

I remember some of the verse.

Walk me to the door and hold me close just one more time.
Kiss me once again the way you did when you were mine.

Thats all I can remember, but I haven't heard It since around 1963. It's a dandy!

Conway recorded "Walk Me To The Door" as well in the earlier years of his country transition. Pretty good steel intro and turn-around on his cut, but not much steel beyond that. He still had a bit of a hard edge to his voice then too.

I'm not going to limit this project to just 10 songs.

In my opinion, Ray Price had the best version of "Drinkin' Champaigne." And it's a great song for C6th.

"Drinkin Champagne" besides the intro and turn around that PF did on Straits doesn't have more than three chords off the melody.I don't know how much an istrumental would add to that song. JMHO

Firstly, if three chords or fewer were a deciding factor, a lot of the songs named above would have to be eliminated.

Secondly, Price's version of "Drinkin' Champaigne" is not a straight three-chord arrangement -- which in part is what helps make it a better one.

My apologies Bill, your so right.. I was just thinking of the many times I had to do the song which I always liked, but to keep pickers interest up, I would do more than the two chord arrangement of the original..Old Sailor (owner) at The Hillbilly Ranch in Boston would make me do the song two times a night when I appeared there.Three chord Country songs kept us all working, myself for over 30 years. I'm sure Bobbe can come up with a great arrangement if he chooses to do the song.

Status at the moment Roger? The studio is lined up, still picking songs, writing charts on the ones we have picked, half the musicians are booked, I am trying to contact Ray to do the liner statements.
Between our moving the store, working on the Tx. to Nash. show, Christmas,My playing all over the country,(Jim and Jessie, and the Legions of country music show), sessions, etc.,I'm a little busy, however this project is taking priority over several other things because of the intrest shown on this forum. Thanks for everyones intrest.Any time anyone wants to know anything about this project, just ask as you guys are the ones that started it and are the reasons for doing it. And I thank you all very much.
