PSG Road Case

Post by Jeff Hyman »

Does anyone know of a manufacturer like "Anvil" that makes top quality road cases for PSG? I believe Anvil is no longer in business. I have a case with wheels on the long narrow end of the case making loading a breeze. It's for a SHO~BUG LDG Model. Any info is appreciated.

As I mentioned in your Buy and Sell post, Anvil is now owned by Calzone Cases. They are still being made.

I agree..WC made a great ATA case for my guitar and it's a great value. I now can fly and not have to worry about surprises when I arrive at my destination.

Get in touch with WC and tell him I recomended you get in touch with him.

Jeff,

Last July I had an excellent flight case made for my Sierra S14. The guitar weighs-in right at 70 lbs. I flew the guitar to a gig in September and the case not only kept the guitar in pristine condition but the case itself, barely shown any dings of road travel.

The case was made by Paul Kaiser, president of Keal Cases in Round Rock, Texas. It features a plywood construction covered with ABS plastic, extruded aluminum edging with water-tite seal design (riveted to the case using a press delivering 2,000 lbs. of pressure!), heavy ball corners (like Anvil cases), heavy-duty recessed casters on the bottom (narrow end of case), three spring loaded recessed handles, and a flush plate lock. The PSG is suspended inside on the edge of the guitar endplates and the entire inside of the case is lined with extremely high-density foam covered with black crushed velvet. All in all a beautiful case that's built like a Sherman tank that will protect your guitar as well as if it were stored in Cheyenne Mountain.

Paul does a great job of building instrument cases (He's done plenty for Willie Nelson). Keal Cases has even built an ATA rated flight case for Charlie Robison's keyboard player's Hammond B3 organ!

One caution, they ain't cheap but they're worth every dime you'll spend on 'em. Image

I don't think Keal Cases has a website (you might want to do a search) but here's their address info:

Keal Cases, Inc.
1100W. Old Settler's Blvd.
Round Rock, Texas 78681
(512) 244-9100

Keep on pickin'!

Hi Jeff,

We offer quality flight cases for steel guitars.
These have a beautiful small beaded finish which reduces scratching.
I've flown mine all over North America & Europe with no problems.
Here's a link on my web site with description: http://www.steelguitarcanada.com/steels/steeluse.htm
Pictures: http://www.steelguitarcanada.com/img/forsale/case.jpg http://www.steelguitarcanada.com/img/forsale/caseopen.jpg
One nice thing about this case is that it is only 4 lb heavier than my standard Carter case, yet strong & durable.
Contact me if you have more questions.
