Has Anybody Seen or Heard Jerry Brightman Lately?

Post by Roger Andrusky »

Has anyone seen or heard Jerry Brightman lately? He had been out of circulation for a while (Since 1980) I think but is back. I had the opportunity to hear him at a steel jam in Mercer, Pa in August. He blew my mind with speed and clarity playing Rocky Top!

Has he ever been on SG Forum?

By the way, what is IMHO? - - Roger

IMHO = In My Humble Opinion.

Sure Jerry's about, he's working on some new stuff, has been playing various gigs and has a website which should be in the links section. He posts here on a reasonably regular basis as well.

Yes, Jerry played an EXCELLENT set at the P.S.G.A. show in Norwalk on Nov.11. I talked to him later and he was very funny. He is one of the most humble guys you'll ever talk to, so see him play if you can!

Yes I have, I saw and heard him at the ISGA in St.Louis. WOW what a player!!!. And What a story teller, I got a chance to hear some of his stories from the Buck Owens days, real cool stuff. I also had the chance to sing Crystal Chandeliers with Jerry playing steel out there. A memory I will never forget. He plays great. If you get the chance to meet him ask him to tell you the story of when he met Tom Brumley at Tom's house, and the CAT<<<<<<<<<<. Its funny.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all the support and nice things you have said about my playing. I'm going into the studio for the next month or so, and I'm hoping that I'll come out with a finished product that will have a little something for everyone.

There seems to be many different opinions on what people would like to hear. Aside from doing a 3 disk set, I'm going to attempt to present a little of the standard, more excepted steel that folks seem to expect me to perform, along with some things that may not be for everybody. It is my attempt to present different ideas, without distracting from the main idea, which is, a steel guitar CD. It's planned to be released just before The Dallas show in March, 2002.

Thanks again for all the support and I hope everyone has happy holidays and Santa brings em that new steel guitar item they wanted. You have been good girls and boys haven't you?? Image

I'll announce it from my website.

Jerry Brightman? A gentleman, a true humanitarian, and a monster player who can run with the best of them. What more could you ask for in a person. An asset to this industry if there ever was one.

Indeed, I am honored to know him, and to call him the best, of best friends.
