Didja ever wonder??
Back before the age of electronics, banjo players invented all sorts of gizmos to project their sound and compete with other instruments. Tone rings, resonators and what have you. Then came the marvels of amplification and with nary a change they take these already too loud contraptions and stand two inches from the mic and then they whine that no one likes banjos????

Q: Why do steel players require two 400 watt amplifiers on stage?
A: To drown out the banjo player.
But what if the steeler and the banjo picker are the same guy (like me)? Ponderous...

Sometimes....I think steelplayers are just very jealous.
After all, they've got foot pedals, knee levers, wrist levers, and four times as many strings.
And they still can't keep up with even a mediocre banjo player!
Yup! Reckon' that's it, all right.
If PSG is the "Cadillac of instruments", then the lowly banjo is the Ferrari.
