Watson/Emmons CD

Post by Bruce W Heffner »

This is yet another great example of Buddy enhancing the singer and the whole recording. The steel work leaves no doubt Buddy is still the great inovator and master of good taste (you know he will always be my favorite). He is all over this recording. The album is extemely laid back and the subtleness of Buddy can be heard in every tune. There is stuff in here that would never be noticed if not for the great mix. I believe Ray Pennington's finest hours producing are in this album. Without Gene Watson there would be no CD at all, he is to be commended for still being a "Stone Cold Country Artist". My favorite's are the classic "Take Me As I Am Or Let Me Go", "No Trash In My Trailer", and the Lefty Frizzell tear jerking " I Never Go Around Mirrors".

Bruce
