Ricky in Scotland

Post by Malcolm McMaster »

Went to see my good friend Ricky play at the Ferry in Glasgow last night.place was full of steel players (six that I know of),that is really something for Glasgow.Ricky did his usual outstanding performance ,doing a couple of the numbers on a 1937 Gibson lap steel one of the guys had brought along. He spent a lot of time before and after the show talking to all the guys,he does a tremendous job promoting steel,it was a great night.I hope all you British steelies out there will ask Gerry Hogan to get Ricky over for the Newbury Festival ,he is a breath of fresh air and I beleive his playing would go down extremely well.Hurry on back to the U.K. Ricky. Hi, Malcolm.
Meant to say hello at the gig but ... you know - too much music to hear, drink to drink etc.
That was my 10 string Gibson EH-150. Great to hear it played well. Ricky's a tremendous player.
If any of the other steelers there are looking at this, feel free to e-mail; it'd be nice to know who's around, and where they are.

Hi Iain

I'm going to see Ricky and Dale on Sunday in Sheffield. I will let you have my thoughts next week.

If any of you get a chance to speak to Ricky, give him a big hello from Steve O'Brien.
