I got this sad news from Steve Hathaway on the westernswing@yahoogroups.com list.

Subject: [westernswing] Les "Carrot Top" Anderson

Steel guitarist and vocalist Les "Carrot Top" Anderson passed away October the 4th at 10:00 am at his home at Olalla BC, with complication from his stroke.
He performed and recorded with both Bob Wills and Spade Cooley, as well as appearing as a regular on Town Hall Party (Ranch Party).

Yes, sad news indeed, another great steel guitar musician gone.
His spirit will live on every time someone
plays "This is Southland."

Another Western Swing Great; Bob Wills' drummer Smoky Dacus:

This note came in today from Judy Spracklen, Joe Frank Ferguson's daughter:

Smoky Dacus died this morning around 7:30. The funeral is Thursday at 2:00 at Emanuel Baptist Church in Rogers Arkansas. All of the original playboys are together again.

Rest in peace.
