Check out the similarity between this old Yardbirds tune and Buddy's "Witches Brew. "

Do you mean that Jeff Beck listened to BE back then? Sensational, in that case!
Wich of the two tracks was released first?
(How nice to see a line about the good old times, by the way!)

The Hothouse of Omagarashid was issued by the Yardbirds in 1966.

I guess that Jeff Beck must use a foxtail saw or sheet metal to get the funny sound that BE gets with some wah- or envelope filter, and the two songs remind of each others if you listen to both and look for similarities, I must say. But I never thought about that before you wrote about it. And who inspired who – wich song is the copy, so to say? It seemes like an unlikely cross-fertilazation, musicwise.

Got a question Jason; I can't lock in on when I first heard the BE recording but I feel sure it was after 66. Any idea of the actual release date on that one as well ??

Paul, I'd have to say post-1966 for sure.
I'm not too sure on this, but there's a bit of a gap between Buddy's albums, from 'Steel guitar Jazz' in 1963 to the Black album circa 1969 there wasn't much recording of solo material, although there's an album with Shot Jackson from 1965 or so?

Anyway, I think 'Witches Brew' is a 1970s number, but I'm not enough of a Buddy completist to say for sure.
