Texas Boogie

Post by Steve Stallings »

I picked up this CD yesterday. It is on Hightone records (HCD8134). It is a compilation of Texas artists. This CD has some stunning steel work on it. Scott Walls absolutely tears it up on "austin-tatious".
I am unsure of who is playing steel with Red Volkaert on "Home in San Antone" but it is really delightful! Red does some jaw dropping tele twanging as well. Dales Watson weighs in with a couple of numbers, my favorite being "Texas Boogie"..killer steel work. Johnny Rodriguez comes to the table with "Still a lot of love in San Antone" and Corpus Christi Bay. Very nice steel in both of them. The Cd also has some songs on it which have no steel, but overall it is an excellent sampler. I highly recommend it.
