Steve Hinson, Wow!
Today was just too much,I was too close too tears while watching the news, so I started fliping thru the new digital satelite system we just had installed and found a concert by Randy Travis live and free on the system. I started to tape it and low and behold there was a beautiful black Emmons steel with a cat behing it that knew how to make that guitar sing. I found out when Randy introduced the band his name was Steve Hinson.I have heard his name I beleive a few times here on the forum but this is the first time I ever saw and heard him play. His tone was the best and is what the Push pull Emmons is so famous for. And IMHO has earned his stripes as far as his ability is concerned. He played some real pretty chimes and real clean fills and leads. The entire band seem to play like real friends that loved their music. The audience was thrilled with Randy and got their money's worth. Take care and catch the show if you can.

In another post I stated Steve Hinson played lead guitar for George Jones back In the 80's and he could make make It sound as close to a pedal steel as any one I had ever heard by bending strings.
I had no idea he was also a steel player also but not surprised because of the sounds he could get from his Tele.
I have hour video of George In concert from 1987 and It has Hinson on his Tele and Killen on steel and It Is great. Some real country music. "George Jones, The Living Legend. In Concert".

Steve is an old friend and a great steel player and guitarist. I met him way back when he was playing with John Conlee and his great band of Tarheels Check Steve out on the new David Frizzell album. I friend of mine in Germany put it on his stereo when I was over at his house and after the first few notes I said, "Wow, who's playing steel on this?" Great playing...
