My Thanks and Photos

Post by Tommy Dodd »

First of all, let me thank all of you that were a part of the celebration Friday night. My wife Donna was celebrating her birthday and it was announced over the P.A. by my good bud Mr. Stoney Stonecipher. He also led the crowd in singing "Happy Birthday" (by the way, Stone, hope you don't have to sing on your gig at Dollywood, do you?) After the singing, folks started coming by the ZumSteel booth to say hello and wish Donna a Happy Birthday and also have a piece of cake with us.

For the last 3 years Donna has been with me at the ISGC so we've missed celebrating her birthday with her twin sister and our families in Atlanta. But this year, through the graciousness of Stoney, Scotty, and all of you there, Donna was welcomed into a much larger family, the steel guitar family. For sharing this special birthday with Donna and myself, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Now, for the pictures. Here are some of the shots I got at ISGC 2001. I apologize for the toes, fingers, or hands I might have stepped on trying to get into the perfect spot to shoot. Sorry!!

Drew and Jim,

I too am having some trouble reaching my own website. I know my web server on Interland was very recently upgraded and consequently may have some new problems. But, the links to my pictures seem to working OK. I will try them again in the morning and will re-post them if more people report problems. Sorry for the inconvenience.
[This message was edited by Tommy Dodd on 04 September 2001 at 08:56 PM.]

I just added a couple more pictures.

I felt very remiss in not including the number one piano picker - Roy (the Kingsize bladder) Rosetta. This guy hangs in for hours and hours on stage without taking a break. And, he always supports the efforts of the featured steel player on center stage. Bless you and thank you from Tommy D.

Hope you enjoy all the pics.

I totally agree Tommy. Roy Rosetta is a class act. The steel players favourite musician. We had a chance to hang out with him in the bar after the show on Sunday. He has done it all. Regards Bob

Thanks for the great pictures Tommy. I am very humbled and appreciative of the kind words from you, Gene Jones and my wonderful friend from Canada, Bob Taillefer. I have always been a fan of the steel guitar and having been privileged to work with most of the "greats" of the instrument, I find that not only am I a fan of the steel guitar, but a fan of ALL of you talented artist who play the instrument. The many hours I spend on stage with all of the steel guitarist, regardless of their level of expertise, is shear pleasure for this piano player.
Thanks guys for allowing me to share your stage.
.....Roy

Tommy, from me too,
It`s great to be able to place a face with a name.
A lot of my pictures of the "greats" pictured here were a lot younger in the shots I have in various magazines.
Happy birthday to Donna too!! Image Image Image
