Happy birthday Gene. I'm sorry I didn't get to see you Saturday. Besides that, I thought you quit having birthdays about 65 years ago.
You are right Jody. Gene is one of the class acts around and I'm proud to have known him for way over half my life and 1/3 of his.

Jerry,,, I would consider Gene as a "classic'
He is not old enough to be considered Vintage
but like a fine guitar he has a lot of value
and that will keep escalating as well.

I asked Gene how old he was....his reply was
Jody ,,,look up my serial number.....

I do know this though he is not old,,but he certainly is "gold" I'll bet he is blushing at this thread,,,he is a modest man,,,how do you find anyone one better???

Gene,,,I understand how you feel ,,,you would like to "cut all my strings" but I dont want to be the oldest guy on here,,,,dont tell em how old you are,,,,cause
Im older than you,,,,you dont have to reply Gene,,,besides I found your serial number & I know your "manufacture date" that was a good year.....like that old Acuff tune,,,,,
No One Will Ever Know,,,,,

Hi guys...what a nice surprise to wake up to on a Monday morning. I did celebrate the occasion yesterday with my family with lots of cake...but with NO candles,it was already 107 in Oklahoma City and candles would have raised the temperature to at least 150.

I've dreaded the coming of only two of my birthdays. When the 30th came I told my wife it was time to get out of the music business because it was only for young guys, but it passed, and I just kept on playing.

Then I dreaded this one (the big 70)..... I had heard that the 70th would be different because on the day "before" you would still feel like 60...and on the day after you would suddenly feel like 80! and of course then you would REALLY be too old to play anymore!

But today is the "day after" and I DO NOT feel any different.....and the icing on the cake (no pun intended) is that I spent the eve of my 70th birthday performing on stage on a show with some of them young enough to be my grandchildren.....and none of them seems to mind at all how old I am!

Can life get any better?

Happy Birthday Gene, form one Jones boy to another. Besides anyone that rides Harley can't be all bad. I wish I still had my 1951 74CI Harley but those were the good old days. Don't tell anyone but my Yamaha fell over in the yard the other day when I was washin it and I had to get my wife to come out and help pick it up. Where has our youth gone?

...you're not old until your bike falls over when you're stopped at a red light...

...Happy Birthday, Gene.
