Hey Buddy.....Hal Higgins here....long time no hear from you....I tell you all something that I thought was just wonderful, was the Buddy's recordings of the Christmas songs. I couldn't stop playing them even after the Christmas holidays were over. Love you and Peggy.....and it sure would be good to see you at some of the Steel shows.....HAL

Hal,
the Christmas album of Buddy's is one of my favorites. It such good listening music anytime. Also, I use it as a practice tool as well. Buddy's use of chords and voicings has always peaked my interest. I put it on and practice with it to discover new ways to play chords, etc.
Great album! Great tone too.

...to answer the question, seems like any song that a good singer could carry off singing by him/herself would work..."Somewhere Over The Rainbow" comes to mind...or "Ave Maria"...

....just not "The Star Spangeled Banner", and under penalty of death, not "Mack the Knife"...

Dave you are absolutely right on that Christmas album, it should be played anytime of the year.....Buddy still amazes me how he can get such chord stucture. I'm almost jealous......been playing 31 years and can't even begin to get out of a guitar what he can. HAL

Dave............You're absolutely right, I don't think we can ever stop learning a new way to play an old tune.....But to me no body can do it like the Big "E". HAL
