Can anyone tell me where I can find the lyrics to How D'Ya Do?
I have some of it, from a partial recording of the Hawaiian Village Serenaders. Here's the last line...
"Toodle-oo, that's a fine How D'Ya Do!"

| I think Alan Akaka and the Islanders recorded this one with lyrics. I'll look for my cassette of it...if I can find it, I'll transcribe the words. "How D'ya Do" is probably the cheesiest, most verbose tune I can think of. I love the Hawaiian Village Serenaders, but even their version prompted me to do that finger-in-mouth gagging thing. It became a steel instrumental for good reason, I say. |

I've only heard it as an instrumental until now, so it's kind of a new twist for me.
Perhaps some of the lyrics just need a little tweaking to make it less cheesy!

| Pepsodent said that in the late 20s and then the 30s the beach boys would really talk pidgeon all the time, more so than in the 40s/50s. Beach boying was more of a full time job to alot of the fellows. The haole girls really liked the bronze beach boys especially in the winter as all they seen on the mainland were the pale guys due to the cold weather. They really ate up the pidgeon that amuscular bronze guy laid on them and the more pidgeon the better. Hawaiians who spoke perfect english would get nowhere unless they reverted to pidgeon hence " Hello pretty ladie how dya do" etc. The sun bronzed bodys and the pidge had quite an effect on the haole gals. I know this is true because "Pepsodent" wouldn't lie. |
