I just wish to advise that I have run into some technicial problems the last few days.

My Roland Digital Recorder stoped working and I had to take it in for servicing and repairs. It would appear it will be gone several weeks,,,, perhaps??
I was hoping to have finished my second MP3 arrangement for our Lap Steels and have it out to the people who supported this thread as promised previously.
Well,, I have the Tablature finished and
called it"Man In Green" which is another simulation of pedals on a Lap Steel. I have commenced sending it out minus the MP3 due to my problem noted above. The MP3 is top priority when I get my Roland back.
In the meantime " Man In Green" is on a cassette which I recorded on my Stereo system and I am really proud of this one and I think non pedalers will enjoy working on this one. Of course it is a tribute to Lloyd
and incorporates several of his signature licks.
Many thanks to all for your kind postings and emails and there's more to come. In the
meantime good luck to those who have the
"Lappin' It Up" files.
Later. Image

Roy, I'd love to have a copy of your mp3, especially after reading all of the above noted praise. Anxiously awaiting it's arrival at snowrider@comcast.net

Thanks in advance...

Don

Hi, I'm new here and have just been waiting for my registration to go through to ask for a copy of your MP3. I don't play yet, but I am looking into a C6th instrument, and was curious as to what your style sounds like

Thanks,
Jim

Jim,
I will be honest with you.
My MP3 is an advanced arrangement BIG TIME
and not for beginners. I am still learning it myself ,,, but I am going to send it to you anyway.
Concentrate on the basics and search out other sources to get you started.

Thanks, I understand, and appreciate the warning. Most of the music I hear and enjoy on records and CDs is beyond what I ever expect to do -- but it is still fun to hear what the experts can do when they push themselves.

I have the DeWitt Scott book, the Cindy Cashdollar DVDs, and the Herb Remington Videos for more realistic goals :>)<FONT SIZE=1 COLOR="#8e236b"><p align=CENTER>[This message was edited by Jim Jasutis on 03 February 2005 at 10:29 PM.]</p></FONT>

Thanks again for sending the file. I can't get over the great sound you got out of that little guitar. I had been heavily leaning towards finding an 8 string model, but now realize that if I can find a nice 6 string, I won't be giving up much if anything.

Thank you Jim.
I find my slants easier to manipulate with
the six string. I seem to be able to get more metal on the wires and more freedom with the back of the bar.
Tomorrow I may feel differently when I want more low end.

Roy: Your replys speak for themselves. I would love to have your MP3. How do I get the Loyd Green tribute? Would you let me know how to get to your site so that I can look at all you have available.

Hi Harold,
Here is the link to the "Man In Green" file. http://rickalexander.com/BigSteel/ManInGreen_RoyThomson.mp3

I will send you the MP3 for Lappin it up.
In answer to your question I do not have a web site. I do some "On Line" teaching and
write music/tab for songs that are requested of me that cannot be found otherwise.

Check your email and let me know if I can
help you further.

Just wanted to tell everyone that I rec'd the tab today for "Lappin' It Up" and "Man in Green". The tab is beautiful and the arrangements are very challenging. This style/technique is enough to keep me very busy for quite sometime. Congrats to Roy for a job very well done.
