Carnivale

Post by Ken Dye »

So are you steelers all too busy practising to watch Carnivale. If not, what was that song that Libby and Rita Sue hootchy-cooed to and who was the steeler playing it?

Ken -- I don't know, but he had some zing in his/her tone. Great. Actually, I was so into the hootchy-coo "scene", I didn't notice the steel until the end...

It was "12th Street Rag". At first I thought it was Sol but I looked it up on the HBO website and found out it was Roy Smeck. It really caught my ear.

Lots of dobro floating in and out of the soundtrack, but the music varies greatly from episode to episode.

Excellent television show. There is very little I can stomach on network TV, what, with all the "reality" shows. Network quality just keeps dropping lower and lower. HBO really raises the bar.

I remember Roy Smeck in the old , old days. He was a good steel player and was very popular. I remember playing 12th street rag back then. Bet I can't play it now!...al Image Image

I'm afraid to even tune that one in- I'm hooked on "Deadwood" and watch enough TV as it is! Now if they ever crank up the Emmons channel...
