This great steel solo was found on a song by Tommy Scott called Ain't Love Grand. It was recorded in the 50's and is off a compilation that didn't list the session players. I found out that Jerry Byrd played some sessions with Tommy Scott, but not necessarily this one; can you identify the mystery steeler and save the day?
Here's the clip.

I don't know either player's (Koeffer vs. Murphy) style to give an opinion, but Roberts' comment about how Koeffer could do al that just with a thumb pick would indicate to me that it is indeed him, then I seem to hear a fore-and-back pick playing technique in the single string run and all others are strumms... just like a flat picker.
