Total length 68mm, domed 3mm each end. Diameter seems to be 9mm, probably 5/16" stock. Space between center of string slots 8 and 1, 55.5mm. Distance between mounting screw holes 47.8mm (basically centered between outside string pairs). Diameter of screw holes 2mm, square-countersunk to depth of about 3mm; screws 20mm long. As for string slot diameter, I'd be inclined to beef up your string gauges a heavy shade, and tell him those.

Brian, seeing that I stole some of my current strings from one of my electric guitars when it wasn’t looking, I’m not sure how much help that would be. When I get around to it, I’ll be fitting the Herb Remington Low C6 set, purchased from b0b. You could find the correct gauges for your own tuning in the forum’s strings section, right at the top of this page.

I just took another look at the nut on the Deluxe 8. The string grooves are basically v-shaped in section, and by using a strong light, a decent metal ruler and a touch of guesswork, the width of the grooves are: 1.2mm, 1.0mm, 1.0mm, .8mm, .7mm, .6mm, .5mm and .3mm. Hope this helps.

The Stringmaster nuts are heat treated, probably case hardened. Try a file on one and you will find out how hard they are. I was trying to open the screw holes in one, and a drill wouldn't touch it. I don't suppose that would matter for making a new one.
