I just aquired a 54' Fender Champion in near mint condition, what a fun guitar to play. Anyone else own a Fender Champion?

I just got one last weekend. The sound is almost as good as my stringmaster. I've had half a dozen other laps but nothing can compare. I have the broadcaster PU. |

I am looking for one now. Hopefully I will have one by the end of the month.
Great for my travels. Hard to bring the Stringmaster most of the time. |

With any luck I should be able to duplicate Rick's picture as soon as my 55 S'master gets here from Florida (Andy's Music). I can't wait.
Mine aren't in as good of shape as yours, Rick. And somehow they don't seem to play quite the same when I get hold of them as when you do. Heh.
Andy - I'm glad to see you found a champion to buy. Now you know why I wanted to hang onto mine. I've had it for almost 25 years.
$95 seemed like a lot to spend on it at the time.
Apart from the tone, I knew these champions were gold when I saw Ron Wood playing one in a Stones concert video. Nothing like star association to pep up the market.[This message was edited by Paul Arntson on 11 January 2005 at 12:10 PM.] |

I have two of them which I use most of the time simply because they're light and do the job. I keep one in A Major, the other in C6th or E7th. Mine are later 50's. Being single pole pickups, they can be a bit "hummy" in some electrical environments, but not usually enough to interfere. |

George,
When you say single pole, does that mean like the original broadcaster PU? |
