Hi there, just pickup up a beautiful post war B6 Bakelite in lovely nick. The tuners are original and work fine ,however I am missing two screws when I took out one other screw to check it's size I noticed it was loose also ,the screw hole is obviouly stripped all others are ok.Question how to pack the stripped Bakelite hole and Question 2 my tuners are 3 open back in a strip I have seen some in singles what year was the change.By the way I see why you guys all rave about bakelites what a harmonically rick sound. Now just need to get some chops together.Cheers Kelvin

Some of the screws that hold the white panels in place were loose on my Ricky so I used some toothpicks to fix it. Just stick a toothpick into the hole and break it off flush then the screw will tighten back up. A quick fix that works pretty good.

Steel wool works well too.

The toothpick thing works well, I usually break off both ends to fill the hole so that the screw fits tightly when it is reinserted. With steel wool, which is also effective, it is harder to fill the hole adequately but holds better.

Hi guys thanks for the help,my tuners were not original as it turned out. They are strip tuners typical as those used on all the old guitars they are very old ang although in good nick are quite hard to turn, the holes are the same spacing as Klusons.Someone had nicely re-drilled the bakelite but a couple of screws were loose.I tried the toothpick and the steel wool method both worked beautifully. The advantage for me now is that a standard set of vintage Klusons fit perfectly maybe not original but certainly practical.Being a Piano Tuner my ears can't handle bad intonation.Ray I got my B6 in Melbourne.Cheers Kelvin
